Episode 39 of Canon Fodder continues our Super-Spy series with the Bourne franchise. With arguably the most recognizable action sequences of the last 20 years, a tight story, and superb performances from its cast, the Bourne series is easily one of the best spy and action franchises of all time. It’s not, however, without its issues or missteps as we discuss in great detail on this latest episode. But for real…how good are these fight scenes?

Episode 115 of Flickin’ It with Matt and Will is a nostalgia boner. If you’re not watching X-Men ‘97 you’re absolutely insane. This show is damn near perfect. From the updated animation, to the seriously adult dialogue, to the insane way that the team uses their powers, this show has it all. And let’s not forget the story. Ripped straight from primarily the Claremont run on X-Men, this series is hitting all of the right notes with some seriously comic accurate storytelling and we are here for it. We discuss the first four episodes. We also balance out the love in this episode with the utter trash that is the Roadhouse reboot. Even if this movie wasn’t a bastardization of the classic Patrick Swayze movie, this movie would still suck a bag of dicks. Listen to us explain why!

Matt and Mike Read Comics episode 14 is the final part in our Starman series. For those of you just coming to the party, Mike and I have been reading the two gigantic compendiums of James Robinson’s run on Starman. This is a run on a title that flies under the radar (I didn’t know about it until Mike introduced me to it) but HOLY SHIT. HOLY SHIT. It’s been a long time since I’ve read such a complete and engaging story with rich characters and plot threads that stretch throughout the entire narrative and resolve in the most satisfying ways. It’s just a master class in storytelling and some of the best comic work I’ve ever read. Seriously. Absolutely brilliant work by James Robinson. Let’s not forget the art. Tony Harris took up most of the penciling duties in the first compendium, but in the second compendium we are treated to a plethora of artists who all bring their unique perspectives to this sprawling story. Incredible, through and through. Top tier comic book. Everyone must read. All of it.

On episode 160 of Talking Tacos the boys read you the news. But seriously. What a week it was for news and some batshit news at that. The Boeing saga continues with the firing of the CEO and much of the senior shithole staff over a slew of recent safety issues. The bridge collision and collapse in Maryland and the subsequent ridiculous conspiracy theories - ok some of them are actually funny - and of course the latest and greatest…Sean Diddy Epstein. 50 Cent is an American hero for trolling the everloving shit out of him. What a fucking world we live in. And of course, we have a new hot sauce this week sent to us from Ojos Rojos. It was a banger!!

On episode 159 of Talking Tacos the boys pull out…of Texas. Just like Pornhub. Because Texas is dumb as fuck. Boeing killed their whistleblower in the ongoing saga which we can’t get enough of. What pipe does food go down and pee come out of? We science the shit out of that. We officially visited Tico Taqueria. The food is insanely good. Get the tripe. We also try some sauces from Singularity Sauces across the pond and are joined by our friends, Greg and Meghan of Casually Sauced and Tailored Boudoir.

Matt and Mike Read Comics is back with episode 13, part 2 of our Starman series, by James Robinson and Tony Harris. If you’re wondering why we need two parts, and even three, to discuss this series; just look at the size of the compendiums! There are well over 2,000 pages of comics gold here. They’re like really awesome textbooks. Following up on the back half of the first compendium, we see Ted Knight really start to come into his own as a reluctant hero. We learn SO much more about the history of the Shade and his generations-long blood feud with the Ludlows. Here is where the brilliant cast of supporting characters in Starman really start to shine. David, the Shade, the Mist, the O’Dare family, and one of my personal favorites, Bobo Bennetti. Part 3 coming soon. James Robinson and Tony Harris’ run on Starman is a must read for all comic book fans.

We know that birds ARE real, but what if only SOME of them were real and SOME of them were CIA/NSA spy drones? Think about THAT. The boys get conspiratorial.

Episode 114 of Flickin It with Matt and Will is out and we are drowning in Aquaman 2. It took us a while to watch it because, despite the endless stream of disappointments, we are still sad to see the DCEU as we’ve known it officially die. Aquaman 2 can be counted as the last movie of that universe as James Gunn is already hard at work on rebooting everything for DC. Hopefully he (or WB) doesn’t fuck it up. Also…Aquaman 2 is comically bad; like, hilariously bad. On the other side of the comic movie universe, Marvel is making more waves than an ocean hero with their Deadpool 2 trailer. Plus the long awaited news of Fantastic 4 casting has finally dropped. Fingers crossed for a good 2024 for Marvel since 2023 was a bit rough overall.

Episode 113 of Flickin’ It with Matt and Will covers a very good movie and a very bad movie, we’ll let you decide which is which. We talk about Mean Girls (the new musical one) and The Holdovers. Despite basically being a shot for shot remake of the original movie, Mean Girls the musical movie is barely watchable. The songs are just OK, but more importantly, the acting is ROUGH. The Holdovers on the other hand is brilliantly acted. The movie is an in-depth character piece with not too much going on in terms of tension or antagonistic moments, but Paul Giamatti and the entire cast deliver all-star performances that make the movie a joy to watch.
