On episode 172 of Talking Tacos the boys build terminators. Because that’s the latest conspiracy theory from the NY Times of all places. America is using Ukraine to test out murder robots, allegedly…dope. We’re here for it. In an election year, everything is fair game. Bill gets hurt from across the pond with a new pineapple sauce from our buddy Mark at Singularity. Matt also makes his own sauce for everyone to try and IT’S GOOD!

Episode 19 of Matt and Mike Read Comics is a special occasion because we are starting on one of my favorite comic series that I’ve read in the last decade, Locke and Key. Written by Joe Hill and illustrated by the insanely talented Gabriel Rodriguez, this comic is a fantasy horror tale that expertly weaves in a coming-of-age story for its teen and preteen protagonists. Asking the question of “what if” in a house full of magical keys, the Locke children will learn that the imagination of a child is truly that, and that it can be deadly.

On episode 171 of Talking Tacos the boys Hawk Tuah. We didn’t want to. But we did. Whether you like it or not, the country needs Hawk Tuah. We are united. But how will the Hawk Tuah story end? Will it end like Kai who was actually a sociopathic ax murderer? Or will she end up on Bravo. Give it a few weeks. We talk about bidets and the strategy of shitting at a music festival and much more. This week’s sauce is from Intergalactic Hot Sauce.

It’s a bird! It’s a plan! It’s Canon Fodder’s 41st episode on (DUH) Superman!! Specifically we dive into the world of the OG. The movie upon which all future iterations of Superman have taken inspiration from, Superman: The Movie in 1978 starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Gene Hackman. And while we normally wouldn’t draw attention to it, this series of movies features hands-down the greatest theme song of all time by none other than John Williams. We talk about the 5 movies in the Christopher Reeves-verse (yes there’s five because the Richard Donner cut is the real deal). This is just part 1!

On episode 169 (nice) of Talking Tacos the boys are spies. Ok, we’re not really spies, but we’d be damn good at it if we were. Somehow we get into the Cold War and the military industrial complex (somehow) but we also talk about ol JT getting pulled over and a bunch of other fun stuff. We review a no-name hot sauce that Matt picked up at the Red Bank farmer’s market. It’s a peach hot sauce with a phone number on the label. And that’s it. We love it.

On episode 18 of Matt and Mike Read Comics we dive into the world of Southern Bastards. Another wonderful recommendation from Mike, Southern Bastards starts off as a seemingly run-of-the-mill reluctant-loner-saves-the-day sort of story set in the deep south where football runs all, even crime. Despite it’s on-the-surface paint by numbers plot, the characters are suprisingly deep and relatable. And then just when you think it’s going to be a tale you’ve heard before, the presumtive hero gets killed. Now what? I did NOT see that twist coming and then the story really takes off. Needless to say, I am excited to read more of this series!

On episode 40 of Canon Fodder we dig into the Roadhouse universe. But wait, you say; there’s only one movie and the reboot. How could there possibly be a connection? Well the reboot from 2024 is most certainly not canon, and most certainly not good. But there was a direct to DVD sequel made in the early 2000’s starring Johnathon Schaech as Dalton’s son and Jake Busey as the bad guy. It’s honestly WAY better than it has any business being and certainly better than the garbage remake. Just remember. Pain don’t hurt.

On episode 168 of Talking Tacos the boys defend Caitlin Clark, in the metaphorical sense. We’re sure you’ve all heard the news about her treatment in the WNBA and as annoying as it seems, it’s actually quite common. Sports ball. We also recap Pride weekend in Asbury Park and the semi-viral video of Scottie Gelati hosing down a bunch of shithead jesus protestors that were harassing his customers in front of Lola’s. We finally have a bad hot sauce, Dave’s Insanity Sauce. And we are joined by another member of the Revue Podcast Network family, Ed, from the Canon Fodder podcast.

On episode 17 of Matt and Mike Read Comics we read Cereal from Ahoy comics. It’s a perfectly satirical blend of What We Do In the Shadows, Monster Squad, and of course breakfast cereal. This book is hilarious in many ways while still telling a captivating and coherent story about war and love. And also cereal. Breakfast is Matt’s favorite meal of the day and Mike loves his breakfast cereal so this book was a match made in heaven. Written by Mark Russell and illustrated by Peter Snjeberg, this book is a must read.
