If you know an immigrant, there's there's a good chance you know someone that pay Black Tax every month. Is Black tax a blessing or a burden? Let's talk! In honor of Black History Month, let's talk Black Tax and Immigrant/BIPOC community.
- The origins of Black Tax
- Black Tax in my family growing up and how it was the norm
- When does gratitude turn into guilt and an inability to say no even at our own expense?
- Why we don't talk about Black Tax
- How Black Tax affects our ability to build wealth
- How much to support family and friends?
- 4 Guidelines to abide by when supporting family and friends
- A Message for those always waiting for the 'well-off' family member to always bear the brunt of responsibilities
The goal is that we are the generation that lifts the burden of Black Tax, not adding to it. Black Tax (in my opinion) can be a blessing AND a burden. However, we need to get in the habit on putting our own life vests on FIRST, and saying No.
Happy Black History Month!
