Everyone tells you that you need to save and invest for retirement, but what does that mean in concrete numbers? How much do you need to save/invest over time to be on track to retire without being a 'burden' to the next generation? In this episode, I talk about:

1. 2 different ways to calculate how much you need to save/invest for retirement
2. Method 1 is replacing a percentage of your income at retirement. See this retirement calculator
3. Method 2 is working towards a specific investment goal based on your calculation of (Annual retirement income/4%).  Calculate how long it will take to get to your investment goal using this Bankrate calculator

In this episode, I also talk about what to do if you're ahead of schedule, and I share options for those that may feel behind. While the easiest way to stay on track for retirement is to start early, it is possible to start saving for retirement at 40 and still retire with a decent nest egg.

When my friend suggested that I talk about this on the podcast, I said, why not? In this episode of the podcast, I talk about the state of my finances during the following phases of my life

Procrastinating can be expensive and I certainly experienced that last year. In this episode, I'm sharing 5 ways that my procrastination ended up costing me money in 2022.

1. Last-minute eye exam and glasses order
2. Last-minute flight bookings
3. Signing up for city-subsidized parking at work
4. Corporate credit card expenses
5. Canceling services timely

As you can see, all of these were avoidable, yet here we are. I'm human and I'll still make money mistakes from time to time. Now that it's out in the world, I want to normalize talking about money mistakes here and there without change.

Do you tend to procrastinate as well? While it may seem like one small thing here and there, remember that it only takes a small leak to sink a ship. So lets plug those leaks one money habit at a time!

I've been wanting to share this for a while now and I'm glad to finally be sharing this. Purchasing your home is a big deal, purchasing your first home as a single person and without family is a bigger deal. In this episode, I talk about 5 lessons I learned from purchasing my first home. 

1. 20% Downpayment may not work for everyone
2. Understand the eligibility rules of any home buyer programs you look into
3. You get what you negotiate. Negotiate everything!
4. I love my home but I still don't like owing a couple hundred thousand dollars
5. Everything they tell you about saving for closing costs is true
6. (Bonus) Don't rush it, you'll know when you're ready
