Today we are talking with Will Hinkson. Will spent 5 years as a Force Recon Marine infantryman before giving school a shot. After a short stint of school and surfing, he was still feeling disconnected to those around him and ended up transitioning to a civilian contractor position. While a contractor he would eventually go on to work for the State Department. Towards the end of his private contracting time, Will helped open up the first CrossFit affiliate in Kabul Afghanistan. Upon leaving the contracting world, he would go on to open up his own affiliate in the states.  During this episode, Will shares about his journey from active duty to contractor, his struggles upon leaving the military and the contracting world, how starting a family helped him get real with how he wanted to show up in life, how his journey eventually led him to his current position as CEO of SalesSniper, and so much more. Today, we talk about REBELLION and how we build tension in our bodies and unnecessarily create enemies in our lives.

When we’ve been let down, disappointed, or somehow find ourselves unable to support our existing belief structures, our natural response is to rebel against that system. The problem comes when, in our search for righteousness or “doing the right thing”, we create a completely new enemy.

It creates tension in our bodies, tension in our interactions, and it perpetuates our programming to find an adversary that we need to fight against. We love to push against something, and for most of us it’s how we’ve operated for a very long time.

We talk more about how it can be a useful tool to examine for yourself why you are finding tension in your life, and how we can let go of the need to fight against something and instead live a life of joy and ease.

Today we are talking with Brandon Mills. Brandon is a Marine Recon veteran. Currently he is living his life as a musician, and working high end security to pay the bills. We originally got Brandon on the podcast to talk about his experience with Ayahuasca, and we got into so much more. He talks about his transition from active duty to the civilian world, and how, even though he was making very good money, he still wasn’t happy with where his life was going. He talks about a line from the book of Proverbs which says “Your hope is deferred because your heart is sick”, which made him realize that if he continued the way he was living, he would continue to live in mediocrity. This caused him to shift his focus to music and to help others use music as an outlet. Apologies beforehand. We had a few internet and power issues that we got to work through.
