James Madison defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler is finalizing a deal to become the new defensive coordinator at UCLA. Hitschler is a veteran coach who worked as the co-defensive coordinator at Alabama, Wisconsin and Cincinnati prior to JMU.

Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez wins Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s top defensive player.

Virginia Tech will hire Penn State co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Ty Howle as their offensive coordinator. 

UNLV has signed a 5-year, $11 million deal with Acesso Biologics to place branded patches on football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball uniforms. This is the first deal of its kind in college sports. 

Left-hander Steven Matz and the Tampa Bay Rays are in agreement on a two-year contract, pending physical.

Closer Edwin Díaz's signs with the Los Angeles Dodgers for three years and $69 million. The Dodgers, who were targeting bullpen help this winter, got the best closer on the market, setting a new AAV record for relievers.

Phillies extend manager Rob Thomson through the 2027 season.

Kyle Schwarber is returning to the Phillies on a five-year, $150 million deal. The NL MVP runner-up, one of the best home run hitters and clubhouse leaders in baseball.

Broncos WR Courtland Sutton became the third fastest Bronco to reach 6,000 career receiving yards.

The Broncos have won NINE games in a row. That's the longest win streak in a single season by Denver since winning 11 straight from Weeks 6-17 in 2012. The Broncos have 8 wins in one-score games in 2025, the most in the NFL. 

Teams with more than 50 sacks in their first 12 games of a season (since 1986): 1989 Vikings, 1987 Bears, 2000 Saints, 2025 Broncos.

There have been 202 instances in NFL history of a team trailing in each of its first 12 games of a season. The 2025 Broncos are the only ones to win 10 of those games. Only one other team even had 8 wins at that point (1978 Oilers, 8-4).

Commanders TE Zach Ertz passes HOF Shannon Sharpe for 5th-most receptions by a TE in NFL history. 

Kentucky fires head coach Mark Stoops. Stoops had been the Wildcats head coach since 2013. He went 82-80 and 4-4 in bowl games during his time in Lexington. Kentucky will owe Stoops more than $37 million, per his contract, which is set to be paid out within 60 days.

Suffered a sprained left shoulder, according to coach Todd Bowles. He’ll have an MRI  to determine the full extent of the injury.

Buccaneers WR Tez Johnson is tied for the 2nd-most receiving TDs among rookies this season. The only player with more? His teammate, Emeka Egbuka.

Chip Kelly is out as the Raiders offensive coordinator. Raiders QB coach Greg Olson is being named the team’s new offensive coordinator. This will be Olson’s third stint as the Raiders offensive coordinator. Olson held the job in 2013-14, then again from 2018-2021, and again now. Raiders also fired offensive assistant Bob Bicknell.

Oregon State and Montana State HC Brent Vigen are close to finalizing a long-term deal.

Former University of Houston and Baylor head coach, Art Briles, has been announced the next head coach of Eastern New Mexico University (D2).

Gable Steveson KOs Kevin Hein with a short left hand to move to 2-0 in MMA. Official time of the stoppage is 24 seconds of the 1st round.

The Chargers traded DB Ja'Sir Taylor to the Jets for a 2028 conditional seventh-round selection.

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals have consulted with multiple doctors on his foot injury and have been told the timetables for recovery have been anywhere from 4-8 weeks, with an increased chance of setback until it’s properly healed. Murray now has more time to heal.

Texans signing kicker Matthew Wright to practice squad as insurance with Ka'imi Fairbairn dealing with an injury.

Shane Bieber has opted in with the Blue Jays for $16M. Wants to continue in Toronto for another year with Jays.

The Phillies announced that Harrison Bader declined his one-year, $10M mutual option for 2026 and will become a free agent.

Royals sign Salvador Perez through 2027. He's been a member of the organization since 2006. Kansas City had the option to pick up Perez's contract for one more year at $13.5 million or buy him out at $2 million. Instead, the two sides agreed to a two-year deal.

Steelers are bracing for safety DeShon Elliott to miss the rest of the season. His ACL is intact and he’s working through the nature of the leg injury, so Pittsburgh will hold out hope, but a return is not considered likely at this point.

Vikings QB Carson Wentz will undergo season-ending surgery on his non-throwing shoulder. Wentz, who gutted through the game on Thursday night despite the injury, started five games for the Vikings, going 2-3 as the QB1. The Vikings originally signed TE Ben Sims as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He was waived in final cuts and claimed by the Packers, who kept him on the roster for over two years before waiving him Saturday, and Minnesota has now reclaimed him.

Pirates hiring Bill Murphy from the Astros as pitching coach.

Game 3 of the World Series between the Blue Jays and Dodgers tied for the longest World Series game ever at 18 innings.

Shohei Ohtani is the first player in MLB history to have a game with: 4 Hits and 5 Walks. Ohtani ties an MLB record by reaching base for the ninth time. It's been done three other times: Stan Hack 1942, Johnny Burnett 1932, Max Carey 1922. 

Freddie Freeman is the first player with multiple walk-off homers in World Series history.
