  • The need for control is a heavy burden

Feeling out of control can be uncomfortable.

When we refuse to accept how little control we have, we often face not only discomfort but also frustration or even anger.

It's like a craving that we can never satisfy.

The need for control is a heavy burden.

    Set that burden down.

    You've got this.

  • Your progress might not be linear and that's okay

You'll take steps forward and backward.

Some days will go smoothly and others poorly.

It's the overall trend that matters most.

Show up consistently, be patient (particularly with yourself), and adjust as necessary.

Your progress might not be linear and that's okay.

    You've got this.

  • Stay true to yourself

Other people's opinions have much value when used to help shape our own.

If, however, we let those opinions simply replace our own, we risk no longer living our own lives, but theirs.

Soon, we may start resenting not only them but also, worse, ourselves.

    Stay true to yourself.

    You've got this.

  • All we ever know is what is

It can be disappointing when life doesn't go how we want.

Sure, we sometimes learn things turned out better.

We'll never truly know, however, how things might have been.

All we ever know is what is.

If you'd like things to be different, do what you can.

    Otherwise, let it go.

    You've got this.

  • You'll never know if you never try

Knowing one's own limitations has its value.

Some of us, though, simply default to self-doubt.

We let life pass us by, never taking any risk or pursuing any dream or goal, assuming we'll fail.

Of course, you might be right.

    You might fail.

You'll never know if you never try.

    You've got this.

  • Take care of yourself first

Helping others can be quite satisfying.

Some of us even overextend ourselves doing so.

This may be appropriate at times.

When carried on indefinitely, however, it can lead to burnout.

At that point our help becomes less and less helpful.

    Take care of yourself first.

    You've got this.

  • Keep choosing kindness

Kindness isn't always easy or straightforward.

It isn't the same as being nice, or at least won't always be perceived as such.

    You know your intentions.

Let generosity, goodwill, and consideration guide your actions.

    Live with love and respect.

    Keep choosing kindness.

  • You can be good enough and you can be better

Work to learn, grow, and improve, if you'd like.

Understand, though, that you'll always have shortcomings you could work on.

This doesn't mean you're broken or unworthy.

    It means you're human.

You can be good enough and you can be better.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

    You've got this.

  • Let the past go

There are many reasons to reflect on the past.

When we carry it with us, though, we sacrifice the present.

We trade our entire lives for nostalgia or regret.

    Let the past go.

This can be quite a challenge.

It often takes time, patience, and persistence.

    You're worth it.

    You've got this.

  • Prove that you're stronger than your failures

We don't always get second chances.

Even when we do, we often let fear of what others might say or think keep us from trying again.

You don't have anything to prove to anybody but yourself.

Prove that you're stronger than your failures.

It's okay to try (and even fail) again.

    You've got this.
