Today’s episode of The Rob Kendall Show opens with Rob discussing
Michael Hicks’ Indiana Capital Chronicle column on the proposed Chicago
Bears stadium in Hammond. Rob says state leaders are selling the idea on
excitement rather than showing a real business plan with numbers
proving the project would benefit taxpayers. He argues the stadium would
create few meaningful long-term jobs, rely heavily on seasonal game-day
work, and divert major Indiana Toll Road funds away from infrastructure
projects that benefit the whole state.
The show also turns to an
IndyStar report on Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett’s Ethics Commission,
which was created to protect residents from corruption but has
reportedly met only once during his decade in office. Rob says the
situation is absurd, especially after one listed member said he did not
even know he was on the commission, and the city still cannot clearly
explain how many ethics complaints have been handled. Rob argues the
commission is “functional in name only” and reflects the broader lack of
accountability around Hogsett and City Hall.
