The Confederate Reconciliation Memorial in Arlington Cemetery is in grave danger of destruction. This is only a part of the broad mission of the Naming Commission established in the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act to erase history from the sight and ears of all Americans, now and future. Former US Senator and Secretary of the Navy Jim Webb recently described it in his appeal to stop its destruction in the Wall Street Journal: “It was designed by internationally respected sculptor Moses Jacob Ezekiel, a Confederate veteran and the first Jewish graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, who asked to be buried at the memorial in Arlington National Cemetery. On one face of the memorial is the finest explanation of wartime service perhaps ever written, by a Confederate veteran who later became a Christian minister: “Not for fame or reward, not for place or for rank; not lured by ambition or goaded by necessity; but in simple obedience to duty as they understood it; these men suffered all, sacrificed all, dared all, and died.” But now in this new world of woke, unless measures are taken very soon, by the end of this year the Confederate Memorial will be gone.” This debate, no fight, to keep American history from being eradicated rages on today.🇺🇸Colonel's Brief is a reader-supported publication. Iran, with the help of many such as the Biden Administration, has brought total war to Israel through its proxy forces, first Hamas from the Gaza strip with the horrific attacks murdering and kidnapping of civilians, mostly women, children and elderly, this past Saturday, and now Hezbollah from the North out of Southern Lebanon. The United States is moving a carrier battle group to the Eastern Mediterranean and deploying more combat aircraft to other nations in order to deter any further attacks on Israel and prevent wider spread of the war. I cannot overstate the nature of the war crimes committed on Israelis and citizens from other nations visiting Israel this weekend. The US State Department has publicly stated that at least nine Americans were killed in the attacks and some numbers have been taken hostage and into the Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, Hamas’s attempt to use them as human shields will not work because Israel is in now in total war mode fighting for its survival. Watch for leftists all over the world to come to the defense of these Islamic Nazi monsters, as they sprang up demonstrations all around the USA and other western nations the following day chanting things like “From the River to The Sea” which is a rallying cry used by these savages calling for the extermination of the Jewish people and state. It is appalling and stupid to support these animals just as it is to support Hitler’s Nazi’s. McCarthy is out. America First Republicans are riding high right now but will it last? The vicious attacks on the eight courageous Republicans began before the victory and amped up to the highest levels I’ve ever seen after the boot kicked the now former speaker out the door. Veterans have sacrificed for our country more than any other group of people. In fact, the United States would never have existed without the veterans who volunteered to fight for her freedom against the British empire. Unfortunately, even though we have spent billions on the Department of Veterans Affairs and passed hundreds of laws attempting to enact reforms that make a veterans transition from active duty and filing a disability claim easier, todays veterans continue to be casualties of broken systems after their service due to ineffective leadership and oversight. The framers of the Constitution devised a system of government that divided power among three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. The intent was for the branches to check each other’s power to keep the government from superseding the sovereignty of the people. It is the application of Newton’s third law of dynamics to political science. Progressives were always dissatisfied with the arrangement because they wanted a more powerful government that could override the people’s sovereignty. Frank Goodnow and Woodrow Wilson envisioned a different separation of powers to unleash the government progressives pined for. They argued that government was not a machine, but a living thing. (This is the foundation of the theory of a living Constitution.) The division they proposed was a branch of politics and a branch of administration. Fundamentally, the political branch would placate the people while the administration ruled them. Whereas the framers feared the legislative branch would become too powerful, Goodnow and Wilson considered it an impediment. Scornful of constitutional restraint of power, they envisioned growing the power of the executive branch beyond the vision of Alexander Hamilton. The fundamental argument they used was that times had gotten too complicated for average people to govern themselves. Of course, their solution was to expand the executive branch with experts who would rule the country via regulations rather than laws. As Dr Philip Hamburger argued, administrative law is unlawful (e.g., unconstitutional). They were not going to let that stop them.🇺🇸Colonel's Brief is a reader-supported publication. Elon Musk's Neuralink to recruit people with paralysis, for first human trials of brain implants. That is the current explosive headline about artificial intelligence and its not fake news folks. Some are surprised by this development, but the reality is that we have been using artificial intelligence for some time now but so far, no entity, public or private, has stepped up to attempt to development what I would call AI laws. Science fiction thinkers have been writing about Robotic laws for many decades now but no one has taken the deeper approach, and that is to think about and document the set of rules of the road or laws that must be developed and applied to AI policy, code writers, and legislation to prevent humans from being removed as the ultimate arbiters of what happens in our domain. This must be accomplished to prevent the development of an ecosystem that places digital minds above human minds in all things, from birth to death.Thank you for reading 🇺🇸Colonel's Brief.
