Chinese state-sponsored hacking groups have been targeting U.S. critical infrastructure since at least mid-2021. The targets include communications, energy, transportation, water systems, and other sectors, including in U.S. territories like Guam. What is America doing to defend itself against these ticking timebombs placed by China? These attacks dramatically increased in 2024 and appear to be continuing at an ever-increasing pace already this year. The digital battlefield is difficult to see due to its nature but we do have large agencies and departments that are established to defend us and fight in the domain. Congress is paying attention also and supports the effort but do we have the right strategic polices, defensive and offensive capabilities to be successful? With these current reports seemingly every day, the incoming Trump administration should do an immediate cyber warfare posture review to establish a more effective direction if one is viable. The incoming Trump administration has to put a priority on strengthening our military, particularly our navy shipbuilding, to deter China, and President Trump’s recent comments indicate that they will because he and his appointees understand the issue. That is only the beginning, however. We must eventually expand our shipyard capabilities and in the interim find innovative ways to rapidly expand capacity. Re-shoring requires finding the funding and building more infrastructure at existing yards plus creating new shipyard manufacturers, while increasing our workforce and securing vital material supply chains. Late yesterday the Las Vegas Sheriff gave this major update on the car bombing at the Vegas Trump Tower that happened on New Years Day. Many of us, especially in the veteran community, have many questions for a lot of reasons so we may get some answered by this new information, but as the Sheriff said, more are raised by the new information. In my opinion Green Beret MSG Matthew Livelsberger just doesn’t fit the profile for your typical radicalized terrorist is a big reason why we have so many questions. The other reason I have is that I’m very concerned that veterans, as a group, may be being targeted to be presented to our fellow citizens as the biggest domestic terror threat our country faces. Therefore, I want as many answers to the questions made publicly. It is also why I support the public release of the initial email document, now confirmed by the FBI as authentic, by veterans Sam Shoemate and Shawn Ryan on the Shawn Ryan Show. Our government has withheld and obfuscated vital information the public needs from many terrorist attacks and incidents for far too long. Only the sunlight of truth with help return trust between we citizens and our government in both directions. Its also the reason why I chose today’s guest, because we have to publicly broadcast as much of the facts as possible from reliable sources. That’s right, the train is full speed ahead for team Trump. The January 6th electoral college vote certification was completed without incident, and news reports of private conversations between Senate Majority Leader John Thune and President-elect Trump are indicating that some more contentious nominees like Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense and Robert F. Kennedy Jr for Secretary of Health and Human Services indicate that they have the votes for confirmation right now. This is great news of course because expectations are high that the 47th President and his team will hit the ground running on January 20th at 12 noon Eastern Time. In order to do that the rest of the team below the principals will need to be getting under way very quickly thereafter. We’ve been covering a group of potential appointees nominated by a group of active and veteran military members called the Rank and File and one of those leaders on their list is my guest today. I don’t normally read full bios but this one is very important for you to hear. Melissa Cunningham received her commission as a Distinguished Graduate from the United States Air Force Academy in 1996. She has served in various assignments including the Joint Staff, Inspector General, academic instruction, cyber, combat communications, and air mobility operations. She served as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She commanded the 92nd Communications Squadron and deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, Melissa served as an Assistant Professor of Management and the Officer in Charge of the Women’s Rugby Team at the U.S. Air Force Academy. She also led as Director of Communications, National Capital Region-Military District of Washington and commanded the 67th Cyberspace Wing. She served as the Deputy Director of the Joint All Domain Information Advantage Task Force, Joint Staff, charged with the responsibility to support development of the Joint Warfighting Concept. Prior to her forced retirement, she served as the Director, Cyberspace Operations and Warfighter Communications, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Cyber Effects Operations, Headquarters Air Force, Washington, D.C. As Director, Melissa was responsible for integrating cyberspace warfare capabilities into the joint fight through strategic vision, policy, guidance, and resource advocacy. Melissa was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General on June 2, 2022 and forced to retire two months later when her medical and religious accommodation requests for the COVID-19 vaccine were denied. The consequences of the dramatic fall of the Syrian government are beginning to reveal themselves more than ever. As the new government formed begins to reveal its Islamist nature, Turkey is attacking American allied Kurdish forces in Northern Syria. The last 24 hours have revealed once more that the government responsible for protecting us doesn’t like telling the truth to us. I am increasingly puzzled by this behavior. Especially when we see so-called FBI leaders openly say they need the public’s help in a press conference, having just lied to us twice, first definitively saying the New Orleans attack was not terrorism, and then hiding the ISIS flag presence during the attack. These actions are dumb and dangerous but they’re not surprising as this willful hiding of information is rampant throughout our government. Tomorrow, January 3rd, Speaker Mike Johnson may see a significant challenge to his re-election because his team hides information from us. Well, we the American people have access to at least one platform where truthful information can be published and that is why yesterday, we saw the truth about the attacks brought out faster and more reliably than any government or regime media entity. It’s not perfect and folks have to be careful not to spread false information, but crowdsourcing emergency information is evolving before our very eyes, and as I have discussed on panels, in tv interviews, and on my own show the last few weeks, it is up to us to see and share anything out of the ordinary as we run up to President Trump’s inauguration, because the same entities that wanted him to lose in 2024 are still working to prevent him from taking office. We are witnessing what many of us in the national security realm have been warning about, a kinetic internal operation to disrupt or delay the next administration’s taking power. The fall of Syria’s Assad government and its defeat by the coalition led by a former Al Qaida and Al Nusra Islamists has the risk of more Christian persecution at the hands of a Muslim fundamentalist government raising concerns of Christian and western leaders around the globe. The complexities surrounding just who all the actors in the rebel factions, the various religious sects, and ethnic groups are makes the situation difficult to understand by the casual observer. Christians in the area were once a majority but are now about 10 percent of the population, concentrated in urban areas of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Latakia and in Hasaka governorate but many have fled to other places due to the Syrian civil war. Finding allies can be very difficult in the Middle East is very difficult and the situation with the change in government makes it even more so. To help us understand what is happening today, my guest is Juliana Taimoorazy, the founder the Iraqi Christian Relief Council organized to shine a light on the plight of Christians in her ancestral homeland and raise funds to deliver food, shelter and medicine to Iraq. Her own unique story as a refugee has made her a strong leader and an unshakable voice for Christians and other minorities in the Middle East today. Taimoorazy has advised many U.S. based organizations and institutions on the issue, has been consulted on developing policy and as a leading international advocate, became a two time Nobel Peace Prize nominee for advancing awareness of persecution of Christians and other minorities in the Middle East. Taimoorazy is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at Dallas.
