Have you thought of starting and/or monetizing a Facebook group? Is a Facebook group worth your time and effort, or are Facebook groups dead? The controversy of having a Facebook group. It is still possible to grow and monetize a Facebook group? Is it worth your time and effort? Michelle Vroom believes it is. The things you are good at are not a no-brainer for someone else As coaches, we often don't specialize until we've worked with clients and seen their results and how we've really helped them. The thing that we are so good at, we think is basic knowledge that everyone knows how to do too. This isn't the case. Are Facebook groups dying off? Facebook is still the biggest game in town. There will always be a Facebook because of the sense of community in a Facebook Group. You can really build rapport in a Facebook Group. And people need and want that sense of community. Set realistic expectations for your Facebook group Michelle stated that her Facebook Group has decreased her sales process by half. Why? Because people enter the group and binge on her content so they know, love and trust factor is built-in. She doesn't have to warm them up as much. The three-step road map for growing and monetizing a Facebook group, the GPS method Step one is to grow (G). The second step is pre-selling (P). Create demand before selling. • How to see obstacles as opportunities
Life and business, especially as entrepreneurs, can be full of challenges that get in our way and prevent us from achieving our goals and dreams. But you don't have to see challenges as limiting obstacles. You can see obstacles as opportunities. It's a matter of choosing your thoughts and perceptions of the challenges. Common challenges that are often viewed as obstacles In order to view obstacles as opportunities, you first have to identify the challenges your brain believes are obstacles. Because of negativity bias, our brains are 2/3 more likely to look for the negative in every circumstance or experience. Changing your perception and seeing obstacles as opportunities is key to discovering joy, and living peacefully with purpose. Use these scripture verses as mantras when feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or stressed about challenges in your life and business Philippians 4:13 "I can do anything through Him who gives me strength." Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Read the full show notes and access all links. • What you need to know to stand out online
With all the noise, how can you stand out online? It may seem hard, but it doesn't have to be. Here are 6 ways you can differentiate yourself to stand out online by simply sharing important factors about your brand and business. Your personal brand is how you connect with others online If you want to stand out online, start by creating a personal brand. A personal brand is what your audience thinks, says, and feels about you. In other words, the perception others have of you. Your story, everything about your journey, the experiences you've had, and the education, formal and informal, have led you right where you are today. Each one of these things helps to differentiate you from everyone else in your area of expertise. This list of experiences includes the good, bad, and ugly. The successes alongside the mistakes and failures. In fact, it is often the mistakes and failures that taught you the most and can help you stand out online and truly resonate with your audience. Your personal brand must be compelling to stand out online Be compelling. The more compelling you are, the better chance you have to stand out online. How can you be compelling when there are so many others in your niche? Especially if you are a coach or a photographer. When scrolling on Instagram it seems as though there are way too many of each to be able to be noticed as an expert. But this is where your unique differences and experiences come into play. Compelling means: to evoke interest, attention, or admiration in a powerfully irresistible way. The more compelling you are through your personal branding efforts, the more you will differentiate yourself in your area of expertise. The more you differentiate yourself, the more you will stand out online. If you are sitting there thinking that there is nothing compelling about you, think again! • The three things you need to do the impossible with Brian Dixon
Becoming an entrepreneur, building a business, sharing your message, and building a community, all seem impossible at times. But you can do the impossible, especially when you have a mission to pursue, a mentor to guide you, and a mindset to see you through. Is it possible to do the impossible? As entrepreneurs, it sometimes feels that the answer to that question is a flat no. But, if we take a look at the definition of an entrepreneur and discover our mission by serving those in our community, the impossible becomes full of possibility. Think about it. The word impossible is actually, I'm possible. Start with Your People and they'll inspire you to do the impossible Porter Gaile said many years ago that your network is your net worth. One of the reasons Brian loves to work with women is that women tend to be more social and know a lot of people. Most women already have a network of people. The question is, how are you showing up to serve them right now? Chances are that you are already doing that right now, helping with the PTA, asking how you can pray for people, etc. There isn't that much of a difference between what you do in everyday life and your entrepreneurial journey. Brian reminded us that authenticity is one of the key parts of growing your business. If you don't have clients or income right now, show up to serve. Ask yourself what would it look like for you to reach out to someone in a leadership role and ask if you can start something. As you start showing up and being faithful to God, you will begin to figure out what you love doing and what is kind of hard. Brian shared that Jesus came to completely break the curses of the fall. The curses of the fall are pain in childbirth and work is hard. But work doesn't have to be hard. If we put people first, work doesn't have to be hard. The three things you need to do the impossible You need a mission to pursue. What are the desires of your heart? How do you want your life to look one year from now? Mentor to guide you. Success leaves clues. Follow a mentor and learn from them. Observe what they are doing that works. These days are perfectly set for you to live and make a difference in the world. Every single day reaches out to 10 people. If you do this you will develop relationships and grow your network. A mindset to see you through. We have to have a growth mindset, not a fixed mindset. The world is always changing. This is a good thing, yet we build our castles on what worked yesterday. We need to look for new opportunities and pursue them when they are in front of us. The reality is that opportunity is all around us. Read the full show notes and access links. • What you need to know before you pitch to be a podcast guest
You listen to podcasts and admire the people who are selected for interviews and you think, oh, that person must be a big deal. But are they any more of an expert than you are? You can be a guest too if you follow this list of dos and don'ts for pitching. Why you should pitch to be a podcast guest? If you want to pitch to be a podcast guest, you should first understand the benefits of being a guest. Here's the thing about being a podcast guest, it opens your world to opportunity. If the host of the podcast invites you to be interviewed, that means they trust you to deliver value. If the host trusts you, most likely their followers will trust you. Every brand marketing strategy should include being a guest on podcasts. Being a podcast guest is about PR, reaching a larger audience to gain more opportunities to attract clients. Not only do you get to interview and impress the host and their followers with your knowledge, but you also have the opportunity to support another entrepreneur. This is a win-win. Both your audience and the host's audience will begin to see you as the expert you are and you will build trust faster. When you are a guest on a podcast you can reach the masses without putting a ton of time into reaching a new audience. You get to showcase your talents and knowledge. Similarly, you will have assets for the podcast to share for your content which will save you time. And you'll build relationships with the host and their following. Being a podcast guest is a great way to become more recognizable and memorable. Many times, episodes are shared by listeners so you automatically become more sharable. We know that becoming more recognizable, memorable, and sharable helps build trust which helps build relationships. Both are necessary for converting people from followers to clients. Now that you recognize the value of being a podcast guest, you are probably wondering how can you become a podcast guest? Let's dive into the dos and don'ts of successfully pitching to become a podcast guest. The Dos to pitching to be a podcast guest There are many dos for successfully pitching to be a podcast guest. Some may seem more important than others, but all are equally important. Each podcast host has their own criteria that guests must meet. But, most importantly, they want guests that are going to help their listeners, have credibility, be courteous, and also make them look good. The Dos Get to know the host of the show you want to pitch to and form a relationship with her Listen to episodes of the show you want to pitch to ensure it is a good fit for your message Customize your pitch - do not copy and paste from a previously used pitch - special note if fonts are different it is a red flag for the host Leave a rating and review for the show you want to pitch so that the host knows you like and respect their work Always follow the process the host has established for applying to be a guest on her show Follow up on a pitch if you haven't heard back in a few weeks but only if the host doesn't have an application process and you pitched by email Respect the hosts' time Remember hosts received 100s of pitches and unless you are a celebrity in her mind your pitch isn't more important than any other pitch she receives Know the host's values and the type of content she publishes to ensure you are a good fit Follow the host and/or the show on social media Engage with the host and her content on social media What should you do if your pitch is accepted? If accepted as a guest: Be on time Wear headphones, earbuds, or AirPods Be in a well-lit and quiet area with no distractions Silence notifications on your phone and computer Send a thank-you note after the interview Share the interview with your audience once it is published social media email list LinkedIn on your media page on your website When pitching to be a podcast guest, make it easy on the host by having a media kit at the ready What to include in a media kit: Important links A professional headshot Your bio, preferably a brief version, not your entire resume Contact information One-sheet Suggested discussion topics or questions that you are prepared to answer related to your area of expertise Read the full show notes and access all links. • What you need to know before you start a membership with Samantha Harris
If you want to start a membership for your business for exponential income, there are a few things you need to know. First, hosting platform options. The second is pricing information. Third, are the expectations that accompany memberships. As with all business experiences, your membership is not going to look the same on day one as it looks months or years into it. It is okay to change things up, and change is almost always necessary. Samantha's membership started as a meetup to take photos and create Instagram content in 2018. When Covid hit, the membership changed to virtual meetings. The membership changed the scope of Samantha's business from 1:1 consulting to a full-time membership, which gave her more income and freedom. Memberships can help you leverage freedom of time to live the life of your dreams. Check out episode 115, How to implement a memberships site to transform and scale your business with Jennifer Dopazo Dispelling the myth of passive income Samantha likes to refer to passive income as exponential income. Because money is really never passive, it comes with work. But, it is about working smarter, not harder. With all of the technology we have available to us, it is possible to work smarter and work less. Samantha is all about creating exponential income that breeds authenticity, community, and support for the people that are involved with it. What happens to your income when you start a membership program? If you want to start a membership simply for passive income, it may not be the right fit for you because there is work that goes into it. It is similar to a bar graph where in the beginning, the work and time you put in is way high while the income is little to nothing, but as you grow and build, the change. The time and work become less, and the income increases. When you have happy members, they basically do the growing for you. This shift in work/time to income ratio occurs approximately 3 to 6 months into the membership. As you grow, you aren't putting more work or time into the membership. You may have backend things to do, but a lot of people have community managers for that, but it is really minimal. But what you will see is exponential growth in income because you work the same amount of time in front of your people and more people are able to view it, which means more income. Is there a "best practice" platform to use to start a membership? In 2020, many companies launched membership platforms. The platform you chose will depend on your business and your goals. All good memberships will have three things, community, accountability, and education. If you don't have all three of these things, the likelihood of success is low. Not all memberships will have community, accountability, and education in equal amounts. If your membership is education-heavy, Kajabi may be the best platform for you. However, if your membership is more community and support-heavy, you might need a platform that helps cultivate community more. As well as promote communication. Kajabi is not interactive, people do not interact with one another on that platform. Samantha had to create a Facebook group for a place to go live. Her membership was called content and connection so it was imperative to have a place to build connection and community. Kajabi could only host content. Read the full show notes and access all links. • What you need to know to find financial resources to fund your business idea with Diane Tarshis
How can you fund your business as a new entrepreneur? There are resources available to you if you are willing to create a road map for your business upfront. If you don't have money to start the business of your dreams, there are financial resources available to help you fund your business. One of the most common objections to hiring a business coach is money. People often say things like "I need more clients first", "I can't afford it yet", "I have to talk to my husband", and the list goes on. But oftentimes, it isn't a lack of money it is a lack of being resourceful. When people are resourceful and come up with the money it shows great trust in themselves and the process, and that they are ready and willing to do what it takes to build the business and respond to their calling. The difference between men and women and how they tap into financial resources to fund their businesses No one needs to take extraordinary measures as there are options that may be a little uncomfortable, but not dramatic. Men, in general, are bigger risk-takers. They are willing to have a half-baked idea and jump right in. On the other hand, women like to be prepared upfront. Completely set and know for sure that the business is going to work. The question becomes, how much risk are you willing to take. A lot of the discomfort from the financial side is not having enough information. The information you need is the specific details of the products and services you will be offering. Conceptual details like how the product or service will be delivered, what the product or service looks like, what they feel like, how is the supplier, who is the target audience, etc. Likewise, you need to develop financial projections. It doesn't matter if this is service-based with little upfront investment or something more complex. Without the financial projections, your idea seems even scarier. It is important to know how much it will take to launch your business. Similarly, you need to know how long it will take to generate revenue. And, it is important to have an expectation of what the early months in your business will look like in terms of money going out versus money coming in. We don't know what we don't know when starting a business When you are starting a business, the best thing you can do is take advantage of the knowledge that consultants and coaches offer. They can help you plan ahead and ensure you have all of your plans in place. We don't know what we don't know. Having someone to guide you and help you build processes saves time and money throughout the course of your business. Diane shared a quote from a documentary, The Biggest Little Farm, "There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it over." In the end, if you don't do it right the first time, you are going to have to spend the money anyway. It makes more sense to pay it upfront and do things right instead of losing precious time in your business. Read the full show notes and access all links.
