My guest coming in is a mover and shaker in the audio, radio, entertainment business. Don Martin, the SVP of Premier Radio Network, Fox Sports Radio, and LA iHeart Media. We sat down and talked about where the radio/ media business is going, how to make it in the sports and entertainment space, the tradition of sports in LA, and his very inspirational life story.
My guests today are two very successful, former professional athletes making a difference for so many people nationwide! First, former USC Trojan, four-time Team USA Women's Basketball Olympic Gold Medalist Lisa Leslie. Second, former NFL defensive linemen, ESPN NFL Analyst, and now Fox Sports Star Marcellus Wiley. Both have overcome adversity, and have a great story to tell about perseverance and success.
My guest is Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Champion Wide Receiver Ricardo Lockette.
An Olympic quality sprinter. Ricardo holds the third-fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine at 4.37 seconds.
He is a great example of how perseverance can take you a long way. An undrafted free agent in 2011 with the Seahawks. He was cut by three teams, but he continued forward catching on a second time with the Seahawks.
Ricardo contributed to two Super Bowl appearances, including a dominant victory in Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos. But what makes this guy special is his commitment to his core values: Faith, Family, and Football, and love for the next generation of kids. Enjoy my conversation with Ricardo Lockette.
And remember to listen to the show wherever you get podcasts including Apple I Tunes, iHeart Radio, Amazon Alexa and Echo, and Google Assistant.
I'm literally kicking off this episode with two of the greatest place-kickers in NFL History ! Two time Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Champion Kicker Matt Stover! Third most field goals made when he retired in 2009. And Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame Kicker Nick Lowery, when he retired, only the best made field goal percentage in NFL history. Between these two, 33 game winning field goals. But most importantly, two of the best people I have ever been around. Both leaders in the NFL community, and NFL Legends. I'm blessed to call them my good friends. We caught up in Miami, enjoy two great kickers, and personalities right here on the Roman Gabriel Show!
My guests, Bennie and Brian Blades, played on arguably the most talented college football teams of all time: The Jimmy Johnson coached, mid 80's Miami Hurricanes. and are both Former NFL, and Miami Hurricane standouts. On this show we talk about the glory days of Miami Football, their Hall of Fame Coach Jimmie Johnson, and the great work they are doing with inner city kids through their foundation!
Welcome to a new edition of the Roman Gabriel Show. My guest is CBS Sports Broadcaster, and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Lesley Visser! She lit a fire and paved the way for today's modern explosion of women in the sports broadcasting business. She's also the first woman to cover the NFL Beat, and the first and only women to award the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy.
Lesley has covered many World Series, NBA Finals, NCAA Final Fours, Olympics, Wimbledon, Kentucky Derby, and so many more! I caught up with Lesley in Minneapolis, enjoy this interview with truly one of the best people in sports.
NASCAR champion William Byron has ascended auto racing more rapidly than anyone in recent memory. Going into his sophomore season in the NASCAR Cup Series, the driver looks to build on his rookie of the year campaign with a new crew chief, an iconic No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 race car and support from Hendrick Motorsports. Byron has quickly amassed an impressive list of accomplishments – especially considering he first drove a race car just six years ago. Hendrick Motorsports signed Byron, then 18, in August 2016 when he was a record-breaking rookie in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. By the end of his season driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, he had racked up an astounding seven victories, 3,248 laps led, and three pole positions en route to rookie of the year honors. It was the most successful debut season in series history.
In 2017, he won the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Hendrick Motorsports affiliate JR Motorsports. As Byron competed for a championship in the Xfinity Series, Hendrick Motorsports announced his next – and biggest – career move in August 2017. Not only would he take the next step to the elite NASCAR Cup Series, but it would be in the iconic No. 24 Chevrolet made famous by four-time Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon and his storied Rainbow Warriors team. Last year in 2019 he won 5 poles including Daytona. I caught up with the 22-year-old Liberty Student right before this year's Daytona 500. Enjoy this conversation with one of the hottest drivers to come along in NASCAR.Ryan Leaf was the # 2 overall pick of the San Diego Chargers in 1988, behind # 1 pick Peyton Manning. An All American Quarterback at Washington State University. Ryan is currently working as a color analyst with ESPN's College Football. He travels the country speaking to college athletic programs and others, telling his story of a successful ongoing recovery from prescription drug addiction. And spreading needed hope and encouragement to those fighting this very serious problem in America. Ryan and I have gotten to know each other over the last few years. In this sit-down interview we discussed his ongoing recovery, some of the opportunities that have come his way through his new position with ESPN. Ryan's assessment of the landscape of college football, and NFL and college quarterbacks. His opportunity to spread hope wherever he travels, and appreciation for those who have helped him along his life journey.

In Today's NFL Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, and Lamar Jackson, are game-changing quarterbacks making plays with their arms, and their legs impacting the landscape of the QB position in the NFL.. My guest was doing the same thing over 20 years ago. Enjoy my sit down with former NFL Quarterback Jeff Garcia. He excelled for 17 years- in the CFL, and most notably in the NFL as a playmaking difference maker with the San Francisco 49ers. A four-time CFL All-Star, and four-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, Garcia began his professional football career with the Calgary Stampedersof the Canadian Football League (CFL) as an undrafted free agent in 1994. In 1999, Garcia debuted in the National Football League (NFL) with the San Francisco 49ers. With the 49ers, Garcia made three Pro Bowl appearances (for the 2000, 2001, and 2002 seasons) and led the team to the playoffs in the 2001 and 2002 seasons. I spoke to Jeff at Super Bowl 54 in Miami, about the changing landscape of playing quarterback in todays NFL, his take on Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Tom Brady. And his development of todays style of QB play far before its time ! Enjoy my in depth discussion with Jeff Garcia on the Roman Gabriel Show ! www.romangabrielshow.com
