The Round Table

It's another edition of Sanityshelves, baby. What have our heroes been reading?

Our heroes discuss a podcast series that is taking things from them. (Note: for maximum coverage, this podcast is  being published in the Bookening and Sanity at the Movies feed as well.)

Nathan and Ben say hello. The SoS crew has been busy with trips, and that's all we have to say, but... what's this? A quick take on the Super Mario Bros movie? That doesn't belong in this feed!

Our heroes discuss whether white evangelicals are the lone bulwark against moral insanity in American. (Nope). And how to be strategic about church as the world becomes increasingly nasty to Christianity. Or more properly, how not to be. And other things.

We're talking vasectomies, elite breeding, alien radio signals, and more!

We're talking trauma, transgender pronouns, and the Bible Project, baby. Oh man oh man.

This episode covers the subjects of women voters, green funerals, trans activists! Just like the title says.

Jake has read three books and we're gonna talk about all of them, baby! Boundaries, the classic book about, you guessed it, setting boundaries. Outlive, the book about, you guessed it, living a long time. And The Unseen Realm, the book about, you guessed it, the unseen realm. So we get to talk about the occult, and para-spiritual stuff, and boundaries, and science, and more!

Nathan once again inadvertently drew the wrath of an internet mob. Even J. K. Rowling made fun of him. But maybe it wasn't about the canceling. Maybe it was about the lessons we learned and the friends we made along the way.

Which is the name of a compelling book by Julie Salamon about the craziness (and evil) of Hollywood, and specifically an account of the production of Bonfire of the Vanities, which was a disaster. Nathan read it, and guess what? He also read Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner, which is about the CIA and its, shall we say, troubled history.
