We are talking songwriting with up & coming Songwriter & Music Maker Richard C. Walter! His album of originals from an original music is out and his music is coming to NYC!

Chelsea Table & Stage will present the debut of the rising musical theater composer and lyricist Richard C. Walter in the special evening “Pieces: New Musical Selections” on Thursday, January 18 at 9:30 PM. Walter is bringing together an ensemble of incredible musical theater artists to showcase exciting new songs from shows currently in development. This sampling of new musical theater penned by Richard and his collaborators includes songs from the recently released studio cast recording of Madame Clicquot: A Revolutionary Musical. Pieces: New Musical Selections is an evening of laughs, tears, and powerhouse performances, with a cast including Joanna Carpenter, Kai An Chee (Miss Saigon, national tour), Jonathan Christopher (Octet, Signature Theatre), Victoria Frings (An Enemy of the People), Lisette Glodowski, Nick Laughlin, Kevin Massey (Broadway’s Gentleman’s Guide), Tim Rogan (“Blue Bloods” on CBS), Santina Umbach (Broadway’s Mamma Mia!), and Rachael Worthington. The evening features music direction by Kenneth Gartman.

Richard C. Walter is a composer-lyricist who has studied and worked in genres including musical theatre, choral, a cappella, pop, jazz, and film scoring. Richard has been a guest composer at Columbia University, and was commissioned by NYU to team up with his Madame Clicquot collaborator, Lisette Glodowski, to write the song “Go Ahead” for the Tisch School of the Arts 2020 graduation ceremony. Richard has been honored to volunteer as a composer with the 52ndStreet Project in NYC, writing new songs and plays with kids. Richard received his B.A. in music from University of Chapel Hill and his MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. www.richardcwalter.com

We are BACK! The Roundtable comes back to the Broadway Podcast Network and we are READY for an amazing 2024! Buckle up!

Today we have actor, producer, and Executive Director of NY's Gilbert & Sullivan Players David Wannen with us! New York Gilbert Sullivan Players continues its expanded 49 th season with its critically acclaimed new production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado. The repertory company is presenting 6 performances at New York’s Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68 th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues) on Saturday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 7 at 3:00 p.m.; and Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m.

The Mikado, which was first performed at London's Savoy Theatre in 1885, pokes fun at topical aspects of Victorian society, but Gilbert & Sullivan cleverly cloak their satirical barbs behind a charming love story set in an imagined town in Japan, and NYGASP continues the time-honored tradition of topical updating for a modern audience.

Performance schedule:

January 6 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

January 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

January 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.* & 7:30 p.m.

January 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

*Family Overture: Musical introduction and plot summary made entertaining for the entire

family (12:45 in theatre prior to the Saturday afternoon performance)

They broke the internet with their "12 Days Of Christmas," went on to sell millions of albums, rack up billions of streams, and sell out tours all over the world, Straight, No Chaser is here! We chat with two founding members about their new album, tour, and how you manage a monster acapella group on the road! We are FANS of their work and they are here!

Known for their holiday music, earlier this month the group released "Stocking Stuffer," an EP of holiday standards and originals. They have two RIAA-certified gold holiday albums, Christmas Cheers and Holiday Spirit.Their annual fall tour has become a holiday tradition for families across the US. Last year, their fall tour was included in Pollstar's top 20 of their "Live 75" at the end of 2022 as a top grossing tour for that time period. This year, the fall tour (dubbed the "Sleighin' It Tour"), runs from October-New Year's Eve.

Straight No Chaser ushered in the modern a cappella craze with their unexpected breakthrough version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" fourteen years ago, reuniting a group of college friends from Indiana University who went their separate ways following graduation. Now celebrating their 25th anniversary since those beginnings, the group has clocked in two RIAA-certified Gold records, one billion streams on Pandora alone, and more than a million concert tickets sold worldwide to their unforgettable live shows. They’ve performed on “Today,” “GMA3,” and “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” among others and recorded three concerts for PBS which aired nationwide.
