A Lethbridge jury yesterday returned verdicts of not guilty against to men accused of conspiring to kill RCMP officers at the Canada/U.S. Border blockade at Coutts, Alberta. Chris Carbert and Anthony Olienick were found guilty on lesser charges of mischief and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, with Olienick also convicted of the possession of a pipe bomb. Assessment of the charges and imprisonment of both Carbert and Olienick who spent almost 2 years in custody without opportunity for bail.

A Toronto father and son arrested while allegedly in the "advanced stages" of planning a violent attack in the city and have been charged with multiple terrorism-related offences, the RCMP say.
Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi, 62, and Mostafa Eldidi, 26, face a total of nine charges. Among them is one count each of conspiracy to commit murder for the benefit or at the direction of a terrorist group — namely ISIS, a Sunni Muslim militant organization.

On March 3, 2005, four RCMP officers were ambushed and murdered on the farm of James Rozsko near Mayorthorpe, Alberta. Single greatest loss of life among RCMP officers in one incident in the history of the force to that date. One of the officers was Brock Myrol whose father Keith is a singer/songwriter and recipient of the Saskatchewan Country Music Association's 2019 Legends and Legacy Award for the Myrol Brothers.
