Something's Rotten in Denmark at least with that country's livestock carbon tax. Beginning in 2030 Denmark's livestock farmers, as in cattle, sheep and pigs, will be forced to remit a carbon tax for their farm animals farts and belching. Might it be possible that Canada, without fully considering the impact, would introduce a similar tax here?
Guest: Professor Sylvain Charlebois. Senior director. Agri Foods Analytics Lab, Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia

A sudden pause in the war of words and legal action between the federal and Saskatchewan governments. A hearing scheduled at the Federal Court yesterday was cancelled as the Saskatchewan and federal governments are in reportedly in talks.
On Monday the Saskatchewan Attorney General stated the province had sought and been granted an emergency injunction to stop the Canada Revenue Agency from any collection/garnishment action by CRA against the province's bank account under the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. According to CRA, Saskatchewan owes Ottawa more than $50 million under the Act, while the province argues the Trudeau government's demands are unconstitutional.
This after the federal government earlier this year removed the tax on home heating oil for Atlantic Canada for 3 years, but refused to extend the tax pause to other provinces and other means of home heating. Saskatchewan has neither collected, nor remitted to Ottawa any taxes on home heating fuels since January 1, 2024, as Premier Scott Moe last December promised us first on air Saskatchewan would not do so.
Guest: Bronwyn Eyre, Saskatchewan Attorney General.

Warren is a Western Canada listener and American immigrant to Canada who sent our program an email in which he argues if Donald Trump wins the November 5, U.S. general election and is returned to the White House as president, it is possible that Justin Trudeau may be returned as PM, perhaps with a majority government. Warren suggests Trudeau would make next year's federal election about running against Donald Trump and not Pierre Poilievre, who Trudeau will say "is a MAGA stooge who gets all his orders from Trump in the White House."
Warren fears "anti-Americanism plays well in Canada, especially in the East. So if Donnie Two-Scoops is back, Justin will be too. Canadians are that stupid."
We read Warren's email on air and there was non-stop response/reaction.
Warren listened and sent a follow-up email about what he heard.
Guest: Warren in Western Canada.

Episode 294: On the evening of December 21, 1883, near Bloomfield, Ontario, visitor Peter Lazier was murdered by two intruders at the farmhouse of Quakers Gilbert and Margaret Jones. The community, deeply affected, quickly organized a search. They traced footprints in the snow, leading to Joseph Thomset and the Lowder family's homes near West Lake. By the next day, Joseph Thomset and brothers David and George Lowder were arrested and charged with murder.
The legal process moved rapidly. The coroner's inquest began the next day, followed by formal proceedings within a week. The trial, held at the Prince Edward County Courthouse in Picton just five months later, suggested the motive was robbery, aimed at stealing the $555 Gilbert Jones earned from selling hops. George Lowder and Joseph Thomset were found guilty of murder and hanged in June of 1884. Many felt justice was served, but others believed the law got it wrong, acting hastily without sufficient evidence.

On the minds and conscience of Canadians. Questions continue about actions by former federal minister of defence Harjit Sajjan and the fate of Afghan interpreters who went into battle with the CAF and saved Canadian lives but who were left behind facing death by the Taliban during the panicked/chaotic evacuation.
Guest: Major Mark Campbell. PPCLI. Major Campbell was a career soldier in the Canadian army who lost both legs to an IED in Afghanistan and who previously shared with us that Afghan interpreters saved Canadian lives and were the first targets for insurgents during firefights.
One such interpreter who served with Major Campbell is featured in our next segment.
During a live broadcast in August of 2021, as panic engulfed Kabul and thousands of Afghans, including CAF interpreters desperately attempted to escape capture and death by the Taliban by securing places of Canadian evacuation flights we broadcast a live interview with two of the interpreters. One had been able to flee the country without assistance and joined us from Dallas, TX, but still was denied entry to Canada.
The other remained with his family somewhere near Kabul desperately praying they would receive the call from the Canadian government in response to his pleas to Ottawa for evacuation.
