Smoking Marijuana is a vastly controversial topic amongst believers, but as believers we must always use wisdom in looking at the research and scripture behind what we do and believe. As a disclaimer I have never smoked weed, but being in a relationship with someone who as smoked week has provided me with a level of insight backed with research and scripture that I will share with you today. The discussion on this topic is in no way to tell you whether or not you should smoke weed as a Christian, but share information that would help make your own decision f this is something you are questioning.

Should Christians DRINK or NOT??? In this episode we list the reasons why people who advocate for it believe it's ok, and why those who don't think it's not a good practice? 

The reasons believers advocate for it

1. Jesus turned water into wine and did not sin - John 2 - 1- 12

2. Wine Gladness to the heart -

“You cause grass to grow for the livestock and plants for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth— wine to make them glad, olive oil to soothe their skin, and bread to give them strength.”

Psalms 104:14-15 NLT

Ecclesiastes 9:7 "Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved of what you do.

3. It was used in the Bible as a preventative for not getting sick,

“Don’t drink only water. You ought to drink a little wine for the sake of your stomach because you are sick so often.”

1 Timothy 5:23 NLT

The reasons believers advocate against it

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.

1. How do you know what is too much?

1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."

2. How are you sure it won’t cause your brother or sister to stumble

And likewise, if someone you are with struggles with the temptation to overindulge in alcohol, it may be best for you to refrain from drinking any alcohol in their presence: "It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble" (Romans 14:21).

3. What happens when you use it as soother or escape life instead of running to Christ

Proverbs 23:31 says “Look not upon the wine when it is red, “ a drink which brings “woe sorrow, babbling, and wounds” (Proverbs 23:29). A drink which is deceptive (Proverbs 20:1), a drink which perverts the judgment causing tine eyes to behold strange women and thine heart to utter strange things (Proverbs 23:32-33).

So is it a Sin - No

Do I personally Drink?  I don’t 

Should Christians be able to DRINK? - It depends, consult with the Holy Spirit after meditating on the above versus. 

Conclusion:

Things may be permissible but are they beneficial?

First Corinthians 6:12 says, "'All things are lawful for me,' but not all things are helpful. 'All things are lawful for me,' but I will not be dominated by anything."

Split rock moments

Have you ever been in a situation that caught you by surprise?  One that just rocked your world or shook your confidence? 

Our repeat guest Rachel McDermott, Founder of Mom Warrior Ministries, wife, mom, daughter of The King and a proud “daddy’s girl”, shares with us one of her many split rock moments where her dad, her hero, her everything, tried to commit suicide. This God encounter pushed her into deeper with Christ, The solid Rock!

Text: 2 Corinthians 7:10 (CSB) 

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.

Ways to help those navigating suicide:

1. Note and address changes in appetite, mood, sleep or “regular behavior” with compassion. 

2. Seek help personal help from others outside of yourself and or professional help. 

3. Remember that you are not alone. 

4. Seek God’s guidance and obey the Holy Spirit’s prompting to seek help.

What is a Split rock, Moment?  Touching the King’s blog refers to a split rock moment as a point where something revolutionary occurs which alters the direction of one’s life”. One of our new Co- Host; Joy finally spills a bit of tea and tells us a little bit of her story.

Joy always considered herself a career driven woman, she spent years and tears investing in becoming a Doctor. And after all her handwork, she finally became a Doctor, however she is NOT currently in that career….yet?!?!

She is a wife and a Mom and while many nay sayers have expressed that she is wasting her degree, this season she is in, she knows is all about God’s glory.
