Dr. James Tour centers on Isaiah 53:10 and the guilt offering: Jesus’s death satisfies the prophecy of the suffering servant who bears the guilt of many. He points to Jesus’s nonviolent response at His arrest, including healing the servant whose ear Peter cut off, and to Jesus’s own statement that He laid down His life willingly. Tour argues that because Jesus was the sinless Son of God, not an ordinary man, His sacrifice justifies many and fulfills the guilt offering. He closes with the need for daily worship and morning prayer to sustain that kind of self-giving service. SUPPORT OUR WORK […]

In this study, Isaiah 53:9 is presented as fulfilled in Jesus’ burial: despite dying among criminals, He was placed in the new tomb of the wealthy Joseph of Arimathea, with Nicodemus assisting. Dr. James Tour emphasizes the multiple witnesses and confirmations of Jesus’ death, the extraordinary signs surrounding His crucifixion, and the secure, known tomb as preparation for the resurrection. Dr. James Tour examines Isaiah 53:8 alongside the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ trial and crucifixion, emphasizing that Jesus repeatedly foretold his suffering, death, and resurrection, yet even his disciples failed to understand because of unbelief. He then traces the fulfillment of prophecy through the crucifixion, Jesus’ final words from the cross, and his death, concluding with an exhortation to trust God’s Word and unite it with faith. Jesus’ trial before Pilate is presented as the fulfillment of Isaiah 53, emphasizing Christ’s innocence, suffering, and willingness to endure judgment on behalf of others. Dr. Tour concludes with an urgent call to recognize God’s “day of visitation,” believe in Jesus, and respond to the gospel now rather than delaying salvation.
