The Science & Faith Podcast

Jesus’ arrest and trials are presented as a fulfillment of Isaiah 53:7–8, emphasizing His willing silence, unjust treatment, and suffering for the sins of others. In this lesson, Dr. James Tour also draws a practical application from Jesus’ silence: believers do not need to defend themselves against every accusation or respond to every negative thing said about them. In this study, Dr. James Tour examines why Jesus was rejected by many of His own people, emphasizing that persistent disobedience led to spiritual blindness and judicial hardening, while Isaiah 53 foretells both Israel’s rejection of the Messiah and its future national confession. He also highlights the contrast between the Messiah people expected—a political conqueror—and Jesus’ mission as the suffering servant who would die as a substitute for sin. Continuing his study of Isaiah chapter 53, Dr. James Tour prepares Christians to respond to common objections against the Bible by examining manuscript evidence, alleged New Testament–Old Testament discrepancies, and Isaiah 7, arguing that older sources such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Septuagint support key Christian claims. He then returns to Isaiah 53, emphasizing Jesus as the humble suffering servant whose ordinary appearance and faithful obedience reveal God’s plan of salvation. Dr. James Tour sits down with astrophysicist Hugh Ross to talk about UFOs, UAPs, alien life, and why some unexplained encounters may point to something spiritual rather than extraterrestrial. They discuss the fine-tuning of Earth, the limits of interstellar travel, the connection between UAP encounters and occult practices, Mars colonization, dark matter, and why Ross believes materialism cannot explain everything we observe.

In this study, Dr. James Tour examines Isaiah 52:15 alongside Psalm 22, showing how Old Testament prophecies point to Jesus’ suffering, death, and future return in glory. He emphasizes that Jesus’ response to suffering—praising God, remembering Scripture, and trusting the Father’s faithfulness—serves as the model for believers while also defending the reliability of biblical manuscripts against common objections. Dr. Tour emphasizes that Jesus Himself taught that the Scriptures testified about Him and that Isaiah’s vivid description of the suffering servant foretells both Christ’s crucifixion and ultimate glory. Dr. Tour argues that peace comes through practicing gratitude, dwelling on God’s Word, and continually abiding in Scripture, which strengthens believers against fear, discouragement, and spiritual drift.
