Today my guest is Najib Saab, or “The Systems Guy” as many call him. Najib is the co-founder of HUMMUS Bowls and Wraps, which he formed three years ago with his brother. Despite the highly competitive nature of such businesses, Najib’s restaurant has grown to multiple locations and a franchising plan is in the works. Much of this success is attributed to Najib’s well-honed understanding of systems, technology and accountability. Additionally, he believes in creating a positive impact in his community while providing a mindful business model that supports the well being of not investors, vendors, competitors and – above all -- customers. He believes that when you have the right intentions, anything is possible.
In this episode we dive into:
· Why word of mouth and community support is so important
· How and why to create working systems for your business
· Why you shouldn’t be fully dependent on any one person for your success
· The importance of spending time in every workplace role
· The value of being proactive rather than reactive
· The recipe for securing and keeping dedicated employees
· Why something that looks good on paper doesn’t always spell success
· Why your team members must fully believe in your product or service
· The importance of “feeling the love” that comes out of your product or service
· How to create a successful partnership
· The essential role of communication
· Finding the “human connection” in running a business
· Avoiding the trap of over-thinking a new venture
· The essential training you can get from those around you
