Four of the Seacoast Podcast "host crew" sit down to discuss a variety of meaningful and trivial topics. Joey Svendsen, Lynne Stroy, Luke Gaikwad, and Bri McLeod explore the difference between “pity” and “empathy” toward people with disabilities and question whether the soul rests in “soul sleep” between death and the final eternal destination. Also on this episode: reflections on the onset of COVID-19; the "good 'ol days" of snail mail and dial-up internet; and sending a text versus an email; and the question, Is it time to get a Kindle?

The true meaning of a caregiver is often lost; and the heaviness that weighs on a person in that role is even less known. On this episode, we’ll talk with Mary Tutterow, a fellow Seacoaster and founder of "The Heart of a Caregiver" ministry. Mary and her husband serve as caregivers for their daughter—and will continue to for the rest of their lives. Mary shares their story that birthed a ministry that now reaches families around the world. It's a story of learning the meaning of life and living the Gospel—a calling for all of us.
Through Mary’s own experiences, she helped Seacoast Church become aware of the needs of these families and helped launch the Won by One ministry, a safe place for children with special needs to learn about the love of God.
At the top of the episode, with Mother's Day 2025 this week, the three hosts "on duty" pay tribute to their own moms.

[Dr. Lisa Harper is speaking at the Chosen Women’s Conference at Seacoast Church in September 2025. Click this link to purchase an online pass, which includes livestream access to all sessions and exclusive content for online pass holders]
On this episode, speaker, author, and theologian scholar, Dr. Lisa Harper, joins hosts Lynne Stroy and Joey Svendsen to talk about her new book, A Jesus-Shaped Life: How Diving Deeper into Theology Can Transform Us and Our World with the Radical Kindness of God. In her book, Lisa shares personal stories, with a fair share of humor, to reveal how the Holy Spirit has shown her that following Jesus should cause her to become more like him. Its pages theologically support this revelation and explain why studying the Scriptures should make us all more like Jesus.
Along the way, Lisa shares fascinating, and perhaps surprising context behind the terminology "Word of God," why it's important to remember that the Bible isn't part of the Trinity, and what believers miss out on by not maintaining a truly restful posture with their maker.

When Hurricane Helene hit the Asheville area in September 2024, communities united to bring relief. On this episode, we’ll hear from Thomas O'Herin and Gabe Witte, both from the Seacoast Church Asheville Campus, who used their abilities and expertise to meet the needs of people after the storm. Neither Thomas or Gabe could have imagined the devastation that Helene would bring to their home community. But, through their generous hearts, and those of their loving brothers and sisters they formed “Team Humanity,” to bring unity in service to help each other in the darkest of circumstances. The two also tell of the priceless, non-monetary blessings they received as they tirelessly served the community without expecting anything in return.

The episode starts with Pastor Chip Judd detailing the story of how he received his new lungs after a tragedy took the life of a man whose lungs Pastor Chip now has. Then, host Joey Svendsen talks with Josh and Lisa Surratt about how goodness can come from bad things, as well as theological intricacies of an all powerful and loving God, and the existence of evil and future redemption. Afterward, they share their hearts for a unified church and discuss that despite how one votes or how people see the world, God's Kingdom comes first and unity on the Gospel of Jesus can always be found.

In this episode, hosts Joey Svendsen and Amy Worley are joined by Alli Patterson to discuss the 5 "levels" of relationships that Jesus maintained while on earth. Dr. Patterson defines these relationships in her new book, "Blueprint for Belonging: The 5 Relationships Jesus Needed and Why You Need Them Too." Their conversation sparks Amy and Joey to reflect on their own relationships and question how well they compare to those of Jesus that are described in the book.
At the top of the episode, Joey with Lynne Stroy and Amy Worley, continue a conversation from Episode 46, "The Secret Life of Introverts" and he probes whether he takes his introvertedness too far.

Previous Episodes a part of this grief mini-series:
Grief (Part 1): Caged Momentum w/ Ruby Cheng
Grief (Part 2): True Stories of Heartache w/ Keenan Shriver and Pastor Lisa Surratt
For "Grief Part 3," host Joey Svendsen sits with our founding Pastor Greg Surratt to hear about his current season of grief, having unexpectedly lost his little brother, Chris, earlier this year. Pastor Greg discusses how his faith has been affected by this storm, but that he still has peace in the midst of his grief. The two talk about “redemptive grieving,” and why Pastor Greg is comfortable with saying that he is currently “not okay.”
At the top of the episode Ciarrah Lindsay, Abbie Love, and Joey reflect on the founding pastor's authenticity and assess the notion common in churches—young people can only relate to young leaders.

An episode all about angels—listen as four different stories are told by people who are convinced that they have experienced angelic encounters. From an angel leading two girls away from danger, another one saving a girl from drowning, and "little-girl angels" influencing the trajectory of ministry for one Seacoast Campus Pastor husband and wife. This conversation sparks reflection and wonder as we discuss the existence of angels on earth and the role they play in our lives.
To kick off the conversation, hosts Luke Gaikwad, Lynne Stroy, and Joey Svendsen share the theology of these mighty beings we call angels, and if they influence one’s mindset or approach to spirituality.

What could the Church accomplish if Christians were more generous with their wallets? This episode kicks off with Seacoast's Chief Financial Officer, Nick Johnston, alongside Jack Hoey III, Lynne Stroy, and Joey Svendsen discussing the theology of tithing and some "what ifs" concerning Christians and generosity.
The episode closes with stories of forgiveness, generosity, loss and redemption with fellow Seacoaster, Brian Wells. Brian has found success in the business world and serves faithfully in the church. He joins host Joey Svendsen to talk about losing his friend, Pastor Darrin Patrick, and he delves into how God has used tithing to turn his life upside down for the better. Brian also shares a radical story of forgiving a business partner's debts and how God redeemed and provided a way out of a dark season.
