Lyn Yeowart has been a writer for most of her career, but decided to go back for a creative writing master's degree some 30 years after graduating with an education degree. But Lyn's biggest change may have been something that was less to do with writing and career, and more to do with self and worth.
Lyn is the author of The Silent Listener. Propelling the reader back and forth between the 1940s, 1960s and 1980s, The Silent Listener is an unforgettable literary suspense novel set in the dark, gothic heart of rural Australia.
CW: Lyn and I do discuss childhood abuse, which may be upsetting to some listeners. As always, I try to discuss important topics like these with careful consideration and with the feelings of my guest and my listeners at heart. Lyn's story is ultimately joyful and inspiring.

Jane Griffin is a former BBC and ITN television and radio news reporter with over 25 years of combined experience in journalism, corporate communication, B2B PR, and crisis communication.
Thanks, in part, to a nudge from a former manager, Jane launched her own PR business, Positive Story - not just putting a positive spin on business-to-business PR but actively seeking companies who promote sustainable and ethical business practices and who share her values.
Jane and Kristin talk about why 'having it all' isn't all it's cracked up to be, the joys of living near the Euro Tunnel when you have a £1 employee fare, the amazing companies Jane's helping to get the word out about and why it sometimes takes a good nudge to find your ideal career direction.

Kim Carpenter is a keynote speaker, executive coach, author, creator of World Changing Women and founder and CEO of People at the Center. Much of Kim's job is taking a stand for good business and making the workplace more humane but before she could help others align their own lives and values, she had to align her own -- something that required selling all of her things, traveling the world and finding what really matters.

Widowed in a brutal fashion at 35, Jen Zwinck took some unusual steps to start her second chapter - steps that included moving with her two-year-old to a small Caribbean island.
Now Jen has found her "why" through Widow 180 podcast and the Widow Squad- working with other widows to come together, learn new ways to travel the path through grief and uplift each other on the journey to rediscovering a new life after loss.
CW: This episode of The Second Chapter does contain descriptions of grief and loss that some listeners might find distressing. However, Jen's story is ultimately one of hope and living again.

Like so many previous The Second Chapter guests, Liz Bieler followed the path she was told to follow, and for a long time, gave up a creative life she craved.
Since letting her creativity flow -- and boy did it flow! -- she's become a jazz singer, a voiceover actor, and now an author with Alice in Condoland now available, and more books coming soon.

From Kristin: This is season NINE of The Second Chapter and I’m BACK with more brilliant and inspiring women who have changed their lives and/or their careers after 35. When Covid Lockdown squashed her fledgling business, a recruitment agency aimed at helping over fifties get back into the workplace, Stephanie Oram started writing.
The result, Wax, Whips and My Hairy Bits- An Erotic Comedy of Errors, written under pen name SJ Carmine, has been as high as number two on Amazon's best bestseller list, and has started a whole new chapter for Stephanie.
Stephanie talks with Kristin about how she, a "loud Northern nobody who swears a lot" turned to writing to ease her anxiety, the funny reason not all men like her book and why women aren't like they're portrayed in 50 Shades of Grey.

Martina Clark has lived a fascinating life, taking her to 90+ countries, seeing her in the room with world leaders, activists, and educators, and now as a writer, with her book, My Unexpected Life, an International Memoir of Two Pandemics, HIV and Covid 19.
Martina had several major changes after 35, an age doctors never even expected her to see. She talks with Kristin about her time in the UN, a very difficult marriage and how it all started when testing positive for HIV changed everything.
