I am delighted to welcome Nick De Luca to this episode to discuss lots of things. I met Nick a few years ago and we have enjoyed bouncing ideas of one another many a time. Actually its usually when I am having a mini crisis moment Nick zooms in with some words of wisdom to get me back on track.
Nick is a Scottish former professional rugby player (union) having represented his country at all ages and making his six nations debut in 2008.
Now Nick is a Director of sport in Edinburgh and like me a coach and mentor to many.
Your host Jane is super excited to welcome her friend Lucy on to this episode. If you are a regular listener you will have heard about Lucy in an early episode.
Depending on the narrative Lucy has either cost Jane a fortune or changed her life for the better. Which will it be?
Your host introduces Lucy and they reminisce about how they first met back in their cricket days and how Lucy quickly caught Jane's intrigue and has since become the most resilient person who she knows.
Lucy's amazing positivity and energy for life will leave all listeners with some important messages on how to make the most out of their life.
In the first episode of 2025 Jane your host invites her friend and triathlon coach Sam Proctor on to the show to talk about her goals for the year.
Sam himself is an absolute Triathlon legend and shares some of his top tips on keeping energised and focussed along with his coaching philosophies.
By the end of this episode Jane is geared up, excited and ready for the challenge of 2025. Have a listen and support Jane in being accountable for achieving this.
Welcome to the Xmas episode with your host Jane Hannah and her guest Dr Myles Duffield. Hear from Myles about his journey in 2024 following a diagnosis of testicular cancer, how he kept positive and his top tips to keep energised.
WARNING - talk of testicles is included!
Have you ever felt that you are just going round and round in circles? Karl Williams joins your host in this episode to talk about a recent challenge where he literally spent 12+ hours doing just this to raise awareness and money for Movember. So many circles in fact he covered 60km.
Karl talks openly in this episode about his journey with depression and how his learnings about himself supported him with the challenge that he took on recently.
Keeping the body up with the mind and defining your own success are just a few of the top tips that Karl shares.
With Hazel off doing her own thing now its down to Jane to keep you entertained. If she can upload this podcast its a miracle!
Your host gives a quick update on this episode as to what she has been up to in order to restore some energy. Including an overview of her adventures in Spain which included living like a Nun, being snipered (not actually a word ha) on her bike and the jelly fish sting of all stings.
Then an introduction to what she has lined up for coming episodes.
Jane and her bestie have another chat whilst Hazel is busy doing the final edits on her book (watch this space).During the last episode Kirsty dropped Jane in it exposing her not so healthy habits in years gone by, worth a listen for a giggle if you haven’t heard it.
If you are a regular listener you will know how good Jane is at talking about being self compassionate and having a holistic approach to health. But in this episode Jane talks about how taking her own advice isn’t always so easy and how her inner demons have popped up in recent weeks following a comment from one of her Dad’s friends about her not being skinny.
Kirsty and Jane pick through this and have a useful reminder that health isn’t about how we look, or what others think and say and how it’s not just about what we eat. But instead that our self worth isn’t based on what others say or think.
A good reminder its about the small things that make all the difference!
In this episode Hazel wasn’t able to join so Jane hosted and invited her best friend Kirsty on to join her. Having been friends for 35+ years there is no one better to divulge Jane’s not so healthy habits over the years.
Kirsty it turns out has a memory much better than Jane’s!
McDonalds in bed, vodka and orange juice for breakfast and rolling in the mud to get out of PE are just a few of the topics they discuss before the conversation moves on to their journey to leading healthier lifestyles.
Some key takeaways (excuse the pun) on this episode. Well for Jane anyway, so enjoy this episode and let us know what your takeaways are.
Anyone feel like they want to just hang out, have some space, get off the treadmill and talk to likeminded people?
Having received some fabulous feedback from their listeners Jane and Hazel announce their intentions to get everyone together later in the year.
Listen on to make sure you can be part of this. As usual lots of topics covered in this episode but the topic that keeps coming up is how challenging it can feel these days to navigate the modern world and how often we just feel a bit stuck!
The complications of navigating the modern world include societal expectations, hormonal changes, low energy, striving for perfectionism, losing your identity or any other number of things and on this episode your hosts talk about their plans to bring you all together to provide a safe space to have a think about what it is you really want!
Have you lost your adventurous spirit because you believe that things should be a certain way, or have you stopped saying what you really need and/or want because you just don’t know or think if you do that you will only be disappointed?
Whatever your answer you need to come and join Hazel and Jane later in the year to have some space to think about what it is you really want and ignore those built in limitations that your mind is creating.
Being able to navigate this needs some space, time and some jolly good company. Coming together to share stories can be so empowering in helping us find our thing again! So drop Hazel or Jane a line if you want to be a part of these amazing days to rediscover what might be!
Life can be challenging enough then your hosts throw in this thing called Perimenopause!!
This episode is for everyone because we all have females in our life and the more, we can normalise talking about female health the better for us all!
Hazel and Jane in this weeks episode delve into the topic of peri menopause, what you might be feeling, what they are experiencing and what you can do to help and why sometimes all you want is wine and chocolate.
Oh hang on that last point isn't always to do with perimenopause...
Lifestyle, hormones, good habits, hormone replacement therapy, bad moods, low energy, zero sex drive amongst many other things are just a few of the topics being discussed on the episode.
How can you decrease some pressures in your life or those around you to give a bit more respect and energy during this stage of life when perimenopause symptoms can be zapping your energy?
Happy listening.
