June was Pride Month which celebrates and supports the LGBTQ+ community. July was South Asiain Heritage month, which celebrates south asian art, food, music and culture.
Its good that we have these moments in the calendar, but we have to remember why events such as these, and others, exist in the first place, and the importance of supporting these communities.
We have HarRoop Sandhu joining the podcast, and this is part 1 of the conversation where we discuss the current challenges different communities face, why it’s important to have these conversations, and share different experiences.
About HarRoop
Harroop Sandhu is a Leadership Coach, EDI Consultant, and Vice President of the Chartered College of Teaching in the UK. With over 20 years of experience as a teacher and school leader, she now helps leaders build genuine equity, diversity and inclusion practices without the blame or shame that usually derails those conversations. She's an EMCC-accredited coach, a Chartered College of Teaching Fellow, and an EDI Fellow with the Institute of Educational and Social Equity.
A sought-after speaker, Harroop has addressed audiences on topics such as cultural intelligence and imposter syndrome, and has spoke at the House of Commons for the 5-year celebration of Asian Women MEAN Business. She brings a grounded, human perspective to conversations on leadership, identity, and what it takes to help people step fully into their power.

Do you break out in a cool sweat when thinking of SEO sales pitches?
We’ve all been there. On both sides, whether you’re giving a pitch or reviewing one and it doesn’t go to plan and you want the ground to open up and swallow you up.
What if I told you that improv can help?
I am not bonkers, bear with me.
Derek Hobson joins the podcast to talk about this very topic. He shares the best and worst experiences he’s had and how the rules of improv can be applied to make pitching easier and more successful.
He also gives you one thing to implement next time you pitch - to help you success.
About Derek
Derek Hobson is an SEO humorist and digital marketer, working in agencies and in-house across the US and — most recently — in the Netherlands. The only thing spanning longer than his search career is his background in improv, which ultimately prepared him for the most demanding audience (children’s attention): serving as a maritime historical reenactor (read: pirate) aboard the brig Pilgrim in Dana Point.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a cure for imposter syndrome?
We all have to deal with it - it sneaks up time and time again.
And the funny thing is, how can you be an imposter to something that you’ve been invited to?
Most of the times we struggle with it, we’ve been invited to contribute or definitely have a right to be there.
This week I have Dhea Mohammed joining me on the podcast to talk about this very topic.
She shares how it shows up for her, when she realised it was a thing, what she has learned about imposter syndrome, and of course, practical tips you can implement to help you navigate it better.
About Dhea
Dhea Mohammed is a full time digital marketer. She grew up hanging out after school in my parents' marketing agency in Indonesia. She didn’t realise it then, but Dhea was absorbing the foundations of the industry like a sponge. She currently works as Paid Search and Paid Social Executive, and Data & Analytics Lead at Forrest Digital. Outside of work, she volunteers with Teesside Mind and creates content exploring what it means to truly live and enjoy your days, a personal development project close to her heart.

Did you know Romesh Ranganathan was a maths teacher before pursuing stand-up full time.
Wanda Sykes worked as a contracting specialist with top-secret security clearance at the NSA up until the 90s before quitting to pursue stand-up full-time.
Moving from comedy to music. Before making it big, John Legend worked as a management consultant.
You may be thinking, this is The SEO Mindset Podcast, why are you telling us these random facts?
Well, welcome to season 18 (can’t quite believe that) and we’re changing the main theme of our podcast… Joking! Please don’t be alarmed.
To kick this new season off, we’re talking about how there’s no such thing as a linear career path, and I wanted to start with some strong evidence.
My examples from those famous folk shows how career paths can change and pivot, and that is exactly what me and Tazmin will be getting into.
We’ll be giving examples from our own career paths. Sarah actually studied dance at university. How did she get from there to being a podcast host, producer and marketing consultant? Well you’ll have to listen to this week’s episode!
Of course, there will be practical tips that you can implement to help you navigate and build a portfolio career.

The questions we type into Google say more about us than the things we say out loud, and this is certainly true on sensitive topics such as stress and burnout.
Search data shows us what people are looking for, what they’re worried about, what they’re struggling with, and how our behaviour is shifting in ways we don’t always notice.
In this episode Steve Paine and Tazmin talk about what this data reveals about human psychology. They discuss the changing information habits, and what two decades of search data tells us about how work, attention, and wellbeing have evolved.
About Steve
Steve is the English-language marketing manager, technical and copy editor at SISTRIX and he oversees the end-end process for all of the knowledge and data journalism content. “We use a journalistic approach to crafting useful, high-quality stories from our data.” Steve has a very long history in online content dating back to before the web was born.

Let's talk about luck.
Is it random? Something that happens to other people, at the right time, in the right place.
Or is it something we can actively influence through how we show up, the decisions we make, and the way we move through our careers?
In this episode, Tazmin is joined by Mel Barfield who explains why it is the latter and what we can do to be 'more lucky'.
About Mel
Mel is Managing Partner and Brand Voice Lead at Copy Or Die, the copywriting agency for brands who wanna live forever. She also hosts the indie business club podcast for freelancers, founders and business owners, talking about all the issues that face people doing their own thing. Mel’s also a qualified careers advisor, event speaker and Freelancer Magazine columnist. She lives with her family in Northamptonshire, far too far from the sea.
