After a clear warning from God about a specific accursed object in Jericho, that Israel should avoid looking at it, to avoid being tempted, Achar took the object and hid it in his tent. As a result of his disobedience, God withdrew his spirit from the camp and Israel was defeated in battle by Gai. As a result Israel stoned Achar.

Jesus and Israel were commanded to encircle the city for six days and on the seventh day they are to shout with the sound of trumpets and the Lord will level the walls and the sons of Israel charge into the city. They destroyed everyone save Rahab the harlot and her family in accordance with the oath made by the two spies.
