After Jephthae, the son of a concubine, was banished from his family, and the people of Ammon came to war with Israel, the men of Galaad offered to make him ruler over them if he would lead them into battle. He agreed and vowed to the Lord that if he would deliver the men of Ammon into his hand, he would sacrifice the first person to greet him from his house upon his return. His only daughter ran out to meet him, and so he sacrificed her to fulfill his vow.

Israel turned away from god repeatedly after whoring after other gods, and this time God refused to save them. They put away their other gods.

Abimelech, son of Gideon, made an agreement with the men of Sychem and then slew his seventy brothers in order to become King of Israel. The men of Sychem gave him 70 pieces of silver to slay his family and become king, but Joathim escaped to Mount Garizin (the mountain of blessing) and proclaimed a curse over the Abimelech and the men of Sychem, that they would annihilate each other. Three years later it came to pass.

While pursuing Madiam, Gideon made requests of two towns for food for his three hundred who were hungry and both requests were refused. After slaughtering over hundred thousand of Madiam, Gideon slaughtered the elders of Socchor and the men of Phanuel (the towns who refused to strengthen his men with food).

God thins Gideon's ranks to ensure he receives the glory for the battle victory against Madiam, reducing the Israelite Army from over thirty-thousand to three hundred. Gideon hears one enemy speaking to another about a dream he had wherein Gideon rolled into camp, turned a tent upside down and defeated Madiam. This encouraged Gideon and he rallied his men and they defeated an army as large as the sand by the sea.

In this chapter The Ange of the Lord meets with Gideon and tells him he will save Israel from The Madianites. Gideon objects that he is the least of his family, but God calls him a might man. And Gideon tests the word of the Lord with a fleece seeking a confirmation miracle before engaging the enemy in battle.

Debbora and Barac's wrote an elaborate song to describe their victory over Sisera

In this chapter Debbora the prophetess and judge over Israel tells Barac to take ten thousand men and attack Sisera the captain of Jabin's host, a man who commanded an army with nine hundred chariots of iron.

God rebukes Israel for whoring after other gods by allowing them to fall into captivity. And after they cried out to God each time, he raised up three saviors to deliver them from each of the three enemies (all three times).

Because Israel began whoring after other gods, God stopped giving them victory over their enemies and allowed their enemies to rule over them and afflict them. But when the afflictions became severe he raised up judges to deliver them.
