After making a covenant to curse any tribe of Israel who gave of their daughters to Benjamin, Israel relented desiring not to cut off a tribe. They then came up with a way for Benjamin to get wives, by kidnapping them, from Selom.

Israel confronted Benjamin and demanded they produce the transgressors so they could be slain for their crime, but Benjamin refused throwing Israel into civil war. Israel lost the first two battles (the first two days), but on the third day, Israel nearly wiped out all of Benjamin, leaving a remnant hiding in the rocks of Remmon

They threaten his wife to discover the answer, which she told them. Samson became furious and attacked a nearby village to collect plunder to pay his debt. In his anger he left, and the father of the bride gave her to Samson's friend.
