The Philistines hooked two mother cows to a wagon and placed the ark of the Lord on it along with trespass offerings and followed it to see where it would go. It followed the coast to Israel. The people of Baethsamys kept it until it plagued them killing over fifty thousand. And then they called for the elders of Cariatharim to come collect it.

After capturing the ark of God, the Philistines place it in their temple next to Dagon, but the ark caused the statue to fall over until the head and hands broke off. And the ark smote the Philistines everywhere it went.

As Samuel prophesied, judgement came upon the house of Eli. The man and his sons all died the same day and the ark was captured by the Philistines.

God comes to Samuel in the night, calls to him and speaks to him of the destruction he has planned for Eli's house due to their wickedness toward him.

Eli's sons were wicked in the eyes and were therefore marked for destruction. They were taking the first-fruits off the sacrifices offered to God before God could receive them, effectively causing Israel to sin by intercepting the sacrifice.

For many years Hannah was baren and so she vowed to dedicate her first-born son to the Lord. She gave birth to Samuel the prophet of Israel.

Boaz speaks to his brother and they agree Boaz will redeem Ruth together with the field of Elimelech. The elders of the city speak a blessing over them and she bears him Obed, the grandfather of king David.

Ruth meets Boaz late at night seeking for him to do the part of kinsman to her. He informs her there is a nearer relation he must first meet with. And she departs in the morning with six measures of barley for Naomi

While gleaning, Ruth stumbles onto the field of Boaz a near kinsman of Naomi. He meets her and commands his servants to be good to her.

Noami's sons and husband died in the land Moab and so she returned to her home in Bethlehem and Ruth insisted she come along.
