God appointed cities of refuge for accidental deaths. These are cities where a man from Israel could flee after accidentally killing someone. Provided they could make it to the city, they could make a defense for themselves and live lest the avenger of blood pursue, overtake and slay them.

In this chapter God explains why he established prophets in Israel. They set a precedent at Mt. Sinai, when they begged Moses to be an intermediary, because God's voice and presence caused them to fear for their lives.

It also warns them about listening to diviners and false prophets and how they can know the difference.

In this chapter, God teaches Israel how to handle evil in their nation. How to judge it, carry out sentence. How to appoint a ruler and how that ruler should govern.

This chapter primarily focuses on the passover feast. How and when it should be done. It also touches on the feast of tabernacles and at the end God commands Israel to institute honest judges over the people.

In this chapter, God explains who to eliminate poverty in Israel so they will dominate all the nations of the world and rule over them.

This chapter contains laws about what Israel can and can't eat among animals. And concludes with some surprising laws about tithing. Bear in mind, this is not the complete law, but it is a portion of the law. More laws can be found in Leviticus 27 and Numbers 18.

God warns Israel that he will test them to see if they love him. They are even to reject if they try to lead Israel to worship other gods. And those who lead Israel astray are to die so that all Israel will hear and fear God.

Israel warned not to worship other gods. They are to utterly destroy all the remnants of idolatry of the nations they are destroying. And then God will identify a city and put his name on it. And they are to then make their offerings in that city only.

In this chapter Moses tells Israel they are about to go before two mountains where he will issue commands connected with blessings and curses. If they obey the commands, they will be blessed, and if they disobey, they will be cursed. He warns them to be careful to obey these commands.

In this chapter Moses reminds Israel of when he delivered them the Ten Commandments; he says that God only wants their love and worship and will respond with his blessing. He chose Israel because he loved their fathers. And so Moses implores Israel to submit and not to stiffen their necks.
