  • The Losers Club
Hey! Today I’m reviewing The Losers Club by Andrew Clements. This is one of my favorite books written by him and it’s a perfect school story. Alec is a reader. He’s always been a reader. The funny thing is, while most teachers love it when people read, Alec’s teachers send him to the principal’s office because he reads too much. Alec starts a club in the Extended Day program for kids like him who just want to read. He calls it The Losers Club, because no one would want to join a club with a name like that, right? You’ll be surprised and excited by this book. It makes you feel so many emotions! Email me at [email protected]. Enjoy! Send me a voice message at anchor.fm/riya-b13/message edit: I’m taking a break from qna because I would check it every day and that’s so not good for my mental health, to be waiting for someone to reply. Thanks for understanding y’all 🥰🤪

  • A Soft Place to Land
Hello listeners! Today I'm reviewing A Soft Place to Land by Janae Marks, the author of a great middle grade read From the Desk of Zoe Washington. If you listened to/watched my video episode, you'll know that I recently got A Soft Place to Land from the library. It's such an engaging book that I read it all in one day! Joy Taylor misses a lot of things. She misses her piano lessons. She misses the thick wall of her old bedroom. But mostly, she misses her old house. After Joy's father gets fired from his job, Joy and her family have to move to an apartment across town. Joy has to start at a new school, and she's worried she won't make any friends. With some friendly neighbors like Mae, Ziggy, and Nora, Joy starts to fit in and become friends with a group of 4: Nora, Elena, Oliver, and Miles. They even show her a secret room in the apartment that only kids know about! But between juggling her increasing worries about her parents getting divorced, her new job dog walking with Nora, and writing to the secret person in the Hideout, Joy fears everything might fall apart. INCLUDING her newfound friendships. How can Joy fix this? Email me at [email protected]. Enjoy!

  • Both can be True

Today I am reviewing Both can be True by Jules Machias. They did a phenomenal job with this novel; I truly loved it. Ash is a gender fluid middle schooler, which makes school extra hard for them. Just walking into the bathroom is a huge decision for them, when they know they’ll never be able to fully commit to one gender. Meanwhile, Daniel is struggling to hide his feelings in front of everyone. He knows he’s overly sensitive and he knows most boys aren’t like this. When a puppy in danger brings Ash and Daniel together, they have to figure out the truth, their identities, and learn what it means to really be accepted. Email me at [email protected]. This episode discusses many aspects of the LGBTQIA+ community, and many characters in this book are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Talk to your parents about this or research it on your own. I'll try to explain things as best I can. ❣️❤️✨❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍

  • All the Answers
Hey everyone! Today I'm reviewing All the Answers by Kate Messner. All the Answers is an amazing fantasy novel and I love it. All the Answers follows Ava Anderson, a seventh grader struggling with anxiety and other pre-teen problems. When Ava finds a magic pencil in her family's junk drawer, she thinks that all her problems are solved. I mean, the pencil tells her everything! Now she knows that Jason has a crush on her best friend Sophie, and that her grandpa's favorite kind of music is jazz. But Ava can't predict the troubles the pencil would lead her to. Some are old arguments while other problems are just surfacing. One thing is true: this magic pencil will take Ava on a huge adventure that will change everything. Email me at [email protected]. Have a great week!

  • Ban this Book
Hello! This week I'm reviewing Ban this Book by Alan Gratz. I LOVE this book and it's definitely in my list of top 15 favorite books. It's amazing. Amy Anne Ollinger used to be quiet and shy until her favorite book in the whole wide world is BANNED at her school library. In fact, there's a whole list of banned books! Amy Anne decides to rebel and starts a banned books locker library, but things soon get out of hand! Amy Anne never wanted to get in trouble, but she doesn't want people censoring the books she chooses to read! Email me at: [email protected]. Enjoy and have a great week!
