Today, I share my conversation with a dear friend, sister, and fellow mujer medicina, Allegra Preuss. Born and raised in Miami Beach, Allegra studied dance and journalism in NYC, searching for richer ways to merge creativity and service. Back in Miami, she began alchemizing her experiences into offerings like Jellyfish Jam, a movement medicine practice, and The Observation Deck, an oracle card deck. A doula, writer, performance artist, ceremonialist, and educator, she plays the intersection of art and spirituality, exploring the range of feeling and healing.
In this episode we touch on
Allegra’s eclectic spiritual upbringing that combined judaism, catholicism, buddhism, sufi mysticism, yoga, and Native American traditions
Our shared experience in the classical dance world and the disordered eating patterns that accompany that identity
How she infused joy back into her movement practice after over a decade of being completely divorced from the ceremonial art of dance
How the spirit of marijuana has schooled and humbled her during very specific moments of her life and eventually guided her to working with other master plant teachers
What her path as a moon dancer has taught her about true commitment
What it means to truly show up in your dharma within your lineage and your community
Mother daughter relationships and Allegra’s upcoming retreat that she’s co-facilitating with her own mother, CynthiaConnect with Claire + the Podcast
