On KC Closeup for July 23, 2017. First, a local story that ties into a major political headline this week. Senator John McCain was diagnosed this week with a glioblastoma - an aggressive brain tumor. This same disease affected Matt Anthony's brother, Chris in October 2000. As part of his legacy, Chris and Matt founded the Head for the Cure 5k run/walk in 2002. This year, as the run celebrates its 15th year, not only is the event bigger than ever, but the returns are the greatest they have ever been. With more than 20 Head for the Cure events across the country, the foundation is poised to pass the $10 million mark some time in the next year -- all of it benefiting the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of doctors and institutes across America who mission is to lead clinical trials and research into brain cancers. In the second half of the show we meet Gabe Maloney and his service dog, Stanley. When Gabe and Stanley were thrown out of an Independence business because a clerk and a police officer did not recognize an outward disability in Gabe, he didn't get mad - he just got an idea for an Eagle Scout project. #KCCloseup #KCPride #HeadForTheCure #ServiceDogAwareness

A humid day on #TheShowKC. The Juice is about to be let loose and we have Joey pouring free OJ in Westport to commemorate. Sad news about Chester from Linkin Park, who took his own life yesterday on what would have been the birthday of Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell. Jen's Impossible question had important things for Truta to remember now that his birthday is coming up. We try to answer the question, What happened to Josh Hartnett? Joey and the girls head outside to pour Free OJ now that the Juice will be free. And Joey begins to stretch for his race against Jen. Dressed as a shark, Joey will try to beat Jen on a tricycle. There was great build-up to the event....and then, the race actually happened. Jen is so tall she doesn't fit on a tricycle. Joey was really unable to get the pedals going. We are also obsessed with whether O.J. Simpson will be released from prison on parole. A rather childish response to Jen's Impossible Question...but Ronnie has the real scoop. We get into the names of drinks - why is it called a 7&7? What does it all mean? Alternate history shows are all the rage right now and the makers of Game of Thrones have a new one on deck right now. We get into the songs that make us cry - and as it turns out we have all sorts of songs and reasons why those make us tear up. We unveil our Joey (as shark) vs Listener competition for Luke Bryan tickets. Survey time again. Busy, busy morning at #TheShowKC. The a/c was broke again so The Show was HOT all around! We follow up on the news that broke at the end of yesterday's show: Jen has never been to Joe's KC BBQ. What?? And unfortunately, that's still true. She punted last night's visit because of the weather (lame). Stupid Conor McGregor news in 10 Items or Less. Jen's Impossible Question was nearly impossible, but satisfying for those who drive around parking lots a bunch. After entertainment news it was the moment we've all been waiting for...Shaylee's player, Cody, was evicted from Big Brother last night. This means Shaylee got 10 minutes in the torture closet with a playlist put together by Producer Joey. In the B&B Theatres segment we take a look at the movies opening this weekend. Hear trailers from War For The Planet of the Apes and The Big Sick. Then, another moment we were all salivating over: David from Betty Rae's ice cream stopped by to give The Show a sneak peek at their new Joe's BBQ burnt ends ice cream, which they will be unveiling to the world on Sunday - National Ice Cream Day! It's been a bad few days on KC highways, and this morning the driving didn't get any better. Kid Rock wants to be a Senator...the reason why he feels qualified is great. Jen's Impossible Question strikes close to home. Truta's car is starting to fall apart around him. This time, the air condition in the back of the car doesn't work, so Adi sweats while he rides in freezing cold a/c. #TheShowKC takes your crappy car stories. On National French Fry day, The Show debates the best way to eat potato slices. It is one of the hottest days of the year, our air condition in the building has been broken, and yet Shaylee is in a blanket. Then, the moment you were all waiting for...Truta has been practicing the kazoo in hopes of joining Coldplay on stage in August. Today he kazoos the hits as listeners try to....Beat Kazoo! The NY Post ranked the best BBQ in America and Jen has NEVER been to the place they named #1. What?? Travesty! She may visit today. Stay tuned...

Today is the day we have all been waiting for: Meltbox Ice Cream truck is coming by #TheShowKC to have us sample their ice cream stuffed donuts. Spoiler alert: it's amazing! Shark Week comes early in Jen's Impossible Question. Britney wants to perform at the Super Bowl...although Truta saw her at the Super Bowl before. What are words that men over 40 shouldn't say? Jen heard an old dude use "Cray Cray" in the supermarket. That shouldn't happen. The text line blew up with examples! It's Wednesday and that means time to play Gen-X vs Millennial. All Access with Shaylee had Blac Chyna news. The Show recapped last night's All Star Game and a rough Sporting KC match for Ike Opara. Then it was ice cream time... Justin from Meltbox Ice Cream truck came by to demonstrate his ice cream stuffed donuts. Everyone sampled and - take our word - it was pure amazeballs!

Happy 7/11! Jen is still on an Amelia Earhart kick. Moose got jobbed in the Home Run Derby. You can get free stuff all day today - chicken, slurpees and whatnot. We find out what kind of men are the best tippers. A man walked into a Boston radio station and demanded they play an Insane Clown Posse song. We share our own stories of crazy listeners. We make an announcement about Christmas in July and what you can win from #TheShowKC over the next couple of weeks. Jersey Shore is back! Shaylee had the details in All Access. A quick look at news and Truta needs a talent. Why? He has tickets to see one of his favorite bands, Coldplay, in August. It seems like every night they've been pulling a fan up on stage to perform with them. Well, apparently you have to be talented and ready to go just in case this happens at a concert. The text line gets involved and it sounds like Truta will be learning the kazoo shortly. See you tomorrow!

Truta pulled an Amelia Earhart and went missing from Jen's watch party last night. The girls apparently had a lot of food and are now convinced Earhart lived! Jen's Impossible Question had to do with clean desks at work. Truta didn't quite like Baby Driver as much as Jen. He felt there could have been more action. There were some big concerts this weekend and #TheShowKC cast members break down the shows they saw. We started talking about riders -- the silly things artists ask for in their contracts with venues -- and Jen made us guess the artist based on the rider. The girls recap the Amelia Earhart documentary. Caller Damien plays the Whisper Challenge with us...will the girls stay the champions? Entertainment news takes us home with some 1920's Reporter thrown in for good measure. See you tomorrow!

The date 7/7/17 is supposed to be lucky...just not for Jen. She had a bad start to the day. Moose is feeling lucky, though...he's going to the All Star Game! The Impossible Question asked what women do before they step on the scale. In entertainment news, Ed Sheeran spills the beans about why he ditched Twitter. Then we get into Jen's poo problem. Turns out someone is walking their dog and leaving the little blue poo bags in her driveway and yard. This calls for a stakeout! We brainstorm some ideas for her: cameras, signs, Liam Neeson from Taken. B&B Theaters helps us figure out the new movies coming out this weekend. We get listener Carrie on the phone for a Big Brother recap...Jen almost went home last night! Hamsters and guinea pigs come up and we end the day with some light entertainment.
