Blog Description:
Enneagram expert, Linda Frazee, joins us again for our series on the pitfalls of the individual personality types. The "3" is known as "The Achiever," or "The Performer," and can be counted on to get stuff done. But what happens when those strengths get over-used? Relationships get damaged, and their physical health might get sacrificed. Check out this edition of the SideHustle Lounge for more strategies to both identify whether or not you might be a three AND how to live a balanced healthy life as you lead with three.
Timestamps:
17:42 So the core belief for the three is that the world values and rewards success and accomplishment above all else. And the core concern is failure. So the life strategy is busy accomplishing tasks and creating the right image.
18:09 There's a high focus on being competent and enthusiastic while inspiring others and bringing hope to difficult situations. Now all their attention goes to what needs to be done to gain success, prestige, and status.
33:17 The ultimate goal here would be that you, you can embrace all the highest qualities of all the types.

11:31 You don't change your type, but you do develop in your type and then you spread out. Really, you lead with a certain type. And in my opinion, there are five major factors in your life that have come together that have created you in order to get your needs met leading with a certain type....
27:34 We almost think that it's a destination, but it really is a journey. And we don't get to a point where we get it all figured out. I think a lot of people are expecting that and they put a lot of pressure on technology, like the Enneagram, or DISC, or Myers Briggs, or any type of spiritual dogma or any of that. And it's not the end all be all. it's just another tool to learn to get to know yourself better and better.
30:31 The ultimate reason to even do the Enneagram is to find yourself - because if you continue to work it, you'll be able to embrace the highest and the best of all these types.

LaTaunya Howard has made her mark in Serviced Office Space (Sometimes called Co-working space). She runs a successful facility of her own, and has published two best selling books on the subject. Hear her tips for training her mind for success and teaching others how to find their niche.

16:33 From a footprint perspective, I'm not as large as some people. So there hasn't been as much of a need to have multiple staff. I’ve been basically running everything myself. That was intentional because I wanted to understand the weeds first, so that I knew how to effectively delegate it and monitor it when other people got involved.
21:44 This entrepreneurial journey is really a mental game. It is a game of mental stamina and that shows up in a lot of different ways, whether it's determining I have to hire someone or it's determining I have to pivot because of a pandemic or whatever the case may be, or it is time for me to bring on some partners or it's time for me to let go of some partners. You're constantly making decisions you're constantly course correcting and you really have to have the head space and the mindset to be able to thrive in that type of environment.
23:03 Being able to detach from things - that's something that I am getting better at because I was once of the mindset. If A, B, and C are what I need to do to experience D and I do A, B, and C then D ought to be guaranteed. Right? Well, that's not always the case. So what I have learned to do is that I'm gonna do my part. I'm gonna do A, B, and C, but after that, I'm just gonna have to detach from the outcome. And I just have to continue doing my best and be open to the possibility that D may not be what the universe has for me. Maybe it's D, E, and F or something else. You just really have to give yourself the space to allow things to unfold in what ultimately is best for you. Maybe not in your timing, maybe not the way you want it to happen or how it will look, but ultimately what is divine and best for you.

Episode 34: Not all those who wander are lost.
Bhavana Gesota is an Indian American former technology professional, a self-taught artist, writer, thinker, and meditator. Her working life coupled with her own desire since she was a child to explore the world led her to living in nine countries, working in seven, and traveling to twenty-two more over five continents. What began as fast vacation travel eventually gave way to a love for slow travel.
What brought her to write this book is her firm belief that slow travel can be a real eye-opener to our very ideas of living through a deep and rich encounter with an unfamiliar culture. Slow travel, thus is not just external traveling but also leads to inner journeying. This book is a sum culmination of her own experiences and is meant to inspire and help you to dive into a journey of discovery—internal and external—and find your insights.
Apart from being a passionate advocate of slow travel, Bhavana is an avid food lover, finds cooking to be therapeutic, and considers food as medicine. She loves natural hot springs, engaging conversations over a cup of good coffee, watching sunsets in silence, long train journeys, playing with children, and has a particular weakness for dark bitter chocolate.
Despite a few attempts, she laments that she is to witness the Aurora Borealis in the Arctic sky. The time for that has not yet come.

If the road is calling you, maybe it's time to answer. Author Bhavana Gesota shares her insights from 25 years of what she calls, "Slow Travel." Hear what she's learned of herself and others on this cosmic walk through life, and learn of a whole new dimension of yourself. Even if the idea of global travel doesn't excite you, Bhavana shares how you can get similar value from experiencing your own city with a fresh perspective.
Timestamps:
3:37 What is “Slow Down” travel? Slow down and take in where you are. Drop the list of to-do things and just soak in the atmosphere and get to feel the essence of the place rather than going from one to another, to the third, to the fourth and so on.
15:31 So again, there's this myth that if you go away for a long period of time, like six months or a year or two years, you won't be able to get back into your career. And I found that and proved that to myself, that that's not true. You can come back. And in fact, actually, when you do go on this type of a travel, it it's such an enriching experience that it adds several different life skills to your sort of portfolio. And if an employer does not appreciate that, you probably don't want to work for that employer.
16:47 Especially in the COVID times, more and more employers are absolutely open to the idea of letting people work remotely. Companies like Facebook, Google, and LinkedIn, they've already told the employees, you don't need to come back to office as long as you don't want to. There are many other professions, you know, like editors and writers and yoga teachers and so on, who can take their skills on the road and create an income stream while they're on the road.

Blog Description:
Champions aren't made when the game is easy, and through 30 years as a mobile Notary and loan signing agent, Jamie has been through some "thangs." Divorce. Illness. Death. And moving her entire business to a new state never stopped her. Listen to this journey of serendipity and strength that can be applied to ANY business.
Timestamps:
30:38 I took a job as a sign language interpreter, and I found that job from doing a signing. And the lady was like, please, please, please, please, we need interpreters. So I took it for a year, but I do not really like working for anyone anymore. That's a drive. The other thing is, life is interesting and I love meeting people of all backgrounds, all cultures. I enjoy what I do. It's not difficult. Being a notary is challenging because you don't know what people are going to say when you are performing a loan signing - and yet it's fun.
48:21 So what I said, how much do I need? And literally you have to look at the cost of living where you're at, California, Colorado, New York, Texas, wherever you're at Louisiana and tell yourself, this is how much I need to take care of my bills. I can't kill myself. I can't do 15/20 jobs. I can't do that and assist my mother and do my, my home responsibilities without dying when I get home. So I'm saying this for all who are listening, calculate how much money you need and stick with that. Don't be greedy.
51:45 Diversify - stay a loving networking person instead of a jealous, competitive person. That's going to get you nowhere.
PS- Your journal is one of the most important components of your role as a Notary Public. When done properly, your journal serves as your memory, documenting relevant circumstances surrounding an appointment. This helps better protect you and your signers, and there are two new journals I recommend for your consideration.
In most states, including California, Jurat, Inc.’s new Notary eJournal is an exciting and more efficient way to journal. With a special add-on device, it even digitally captures fingerprints. I’ve negotiated an incredible deal for you if you’d like to try it out. Click here for details.

Episode 31: Think outside the box, and don't be afraid to take risks!
Blog Description:
We Lifshitz Together: Serial Entrepreneur, Brand Consultant and Creative Thinker, Bryan Lifshitz shares the power of thinking big, finding your side hustle, and inventing a product that goes VIRAL.
Timestamps:
8:48 A lot of small businesses don't know who their market is. They don't know who their audience is. And so that's where we've got to identify. Is it old? Is it young? Is it, this is it that? And so once we understand that, then we're working backwards
22:19 The world of bringing stuff to market has changed. And for the better, in my opinion. And why? Because now anybody and everybody can bring something to market.
35:29 The reality is you've got to make sure that people like your product. We didn't know people were going to like our product, right? We just kind of assumed. I think we made about a hundred units of the Piggyback Rider back in the day as a test. We brought a bunch of them in, we sent them out to people, we had friends and family get involved just to see if the product worked. Then we started working with outside individuals to get their opinion and feedback so we could actually get that constructive criticism, not just from friends and family.

Episode 30: It's all about relationships. Building great relationships helps you build a great business.
Blog Description:
Cultivating client relationships is a lot easier when you believe in your product or service AND if you believe you deserve a seat at the table. Jennifer Neitzel and I share some insight and strategy into what it takes to build relationships, move toward your dream, and take-on he/she that shall not be named (but I will name it anyway): cold-calling.
Timestamps:
13:32 Part of the reason I love being a mobile notary and loan signing agent is because I have been able to categorize this as NOT being in sales. But that is a complete lie. It is. And if anybody is listening to this and says, oh, I'm not in sales, that is inaccurate. Every single one of us is in sales. We are always selling something. It sometimes might be our personality. It might be our services. It might be the fact that we are the good employee and we're worth keeping on.
32:13 As you get older, we focus our businesses on building relationships. But that also includes building a relationship with yourself, having a little confidence in yourself, getting past your fear of rejection.
34:38 I can control my attitude. I can control the effort I put into something, and I can control the integrity with which I do that. All of those things I can control in my day. And when I control these, my inner critic is a little more silent.

Episode 29: Build that internal strength that will help carry you through life
Blog Description:
Too many of us wait until crisis is upon us before we realize the importance of a change in behavior, thought pattern, or environment. What if we worked our minds ten minutes every day to build the mental resilience and strength we need to thrive no matter what external circumstances happen around us? Elite Performance Expert, Deborah Dubree, shares her "7 C's" framework for solo-prenuers and top performers to claim the life they know they're capable of.
Timestamps:
12:43 Here's something and this is what I will do even with my NFL players or with corporate people. I use what I call, e-magination. It's imagining with emotion. It's knowing that the mind doesn't know the difference between real or imagined.
30:32 Now, most people when they come to me and I don't care who they are, what position they have, they want more competence. I want more competence to do X, you know, so they might be competent in 95% of what they're doing. And that 5% it's like, I want, I want, I need more confidence in this area. And I go, no, you don't. They go, what do you mean? I said, competence is an end result. What you're looking for is courage.
46:29 We have to train our brain and our emotional system every single day.
