The Skol Hop

Now that the emotions of the Vikings missing the playoffs have somewhat tapered off, we take a look at the current playoff picture. Then we move into our favorite moments of the season, where we each picked a favorite offensive, defensive and special teams moment to discuss. Finally, we look at the 2023 Vikings Free Agents that were acquired or lost by the Vikings and discuss whether or not they worked in favor of the Vikings. This was all discussed while drinking an Iowa craft beer, of course! This episode features Big Grove’s Burch the Bear American Brown Ale. Thanks Big Grove for some tasty beer! With the Minnesota Vikings’ season officially ending, we recap the final game (eliminated from playoff contention, the Mullens roller coaster, Justin Jefferson balls out again), reflect on the season (pre-season predictions, injury woes, and the incredible play of Justin Jefferson), and look ahead to a busy offseason (24 free agents, key contract negotiations, and a decent draft pick). We featured (and enjoyed) Firetrucker Brewing’s Iowa IPA while we discussed all of these things. Truth be told, we could have talked for twice as long, but we’ve got all offseason for that! More avoidance tactics are employed as we find other things to talk about other than the Vikings miserable performance in Week 17. We did eventually talk about it, but we didn’t have many nice things to say so we kept it short. The conundrum of the quarterback position continues to be a point of contention between us, and yet somehow, some way, the Vikings are still able to slide into the playoffs.  All of this and more is discussed as we enjoy some Gold Coins from Backpocket Brewing out of Iowa City, Iowa.  Grab your favorite beverage and join us! As we try to avoid talking about a Viking loss, we exchange some pretty sweet Skol Hop Christmas gifts! Of course, you can only prolong the inevitable for so long. The conversation eventually leads to a frustrating Vikings loss to the Lions on Christmas Eve. We bemoan the massive amount of injuries Vikings players have sustained in recent weeks and all season long. A debate ensues about what happens in the coming weeks at the Quarterback position, as well as what happens at the position going into next season. We also take a look at the Vikings playoff clinching scenarios.  Despite the frustrating circumstances surrounding our favorite team, we enjoy some pretty River Bottom X from Green Tree Brewing out of LeClaire, Iowa! Another week, another conversation about the Vikings playoff hopes. Even with a loss at Cincinnati, the Purple team still has a decent shot at making the postseason with 3 games remaining. Join us as we talk about this final push for the playoffs, as well as another controversial “shove” happening in the NFL. This week we enjoy the Red Rambler Red Ale from Peace Tree Brewing. Sipping on Whirled Wide Haze from SingleSpeed Brewing, we chat about the ugly Vikings win over the Raiders in Week 14 and look ahead to Week 15 on the road to play the Bengals. More interesting, perhaps, is our interview with Vikings Twitter legend Dustin Baker. We really enjoyed hanging out with him and picking his brain on all things Vikings! Austin and Evan enjoy Prowl from SingleSpeed while quarreling over the puzzling quarterback situation in Minnesota right now. It is certainly not lost on them how much of an impact the QB decision will have on the Vikings playoff hopes moving forward. Grab your favorite beverage and join us! Skol! Check us out on TikTok! Forrest the Bears fan is back this week to discuss the Vikings unfortunate loss to the Bears on Monday night. Austin also gives Evan a pretty sweet birthday gift! All 3 take turns guessing what the Vikings will do moving forward at the quarterback position. Grab a cold one and join us! Skol!

Despite a Vikings loss on Sunday night to the Broncos, Austin and Evan still have beer to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving Week. We go out of our comfort zone and try ReUnion Brewery's Cobbler Gobbler Fruit Sour while talking about a tough loss, being raided on our first live stream, and the rest of the season. After 5 wins in a row, the sky is the limit for this 2023 Vikings squad. Join us as we sip on some Raging River from Front Street Brewery in Davenport, Iowa.
