The SKOR North Twins Show | a Minnesota Twins podcast

The Twins appeared to have won a bidding war, and that really messes with some paradigms that we've had set up for us in Minnesota.

Derek Wetmore and Ramie Makhlouf talk about the Twins and their new star slugger, the bidding war they appear to have won, and more fallout from the Astros cheating scandal that has rocked Major League Baseball. We relay some thoughts from big Twins figures like Joe Mauer and LaTroy Hawkins. Ramie, for what it's worth, is big on philosophy and sports trivia.

The Twins and Josh Donaldson struck a deal that could pay the third baseman $100 million or more. And apparently tennis star Mardy Fish had a say in the recruiting pitch! This according to a piece in the Star Tribune. Patrick Reusse shares the details from that report, and also point out that it's very likely that the financial offer from the Twins did a good deal of the recruiting work.

Reusse and Derek Wetmore also kick around the idea that cheating runs rampant in Major League Baseball, and we try to find a way forward after the MLB report threw the book at the Houston Astros, and 3 managers are out of a job before the season begins.

Miguel Sano is at least $30 million richer and has at least one more piece of heavy eponymous jewelry after agreeing to a contract extension with the Minnesota Twins. Good deal for the club? Are you comfortable with the risk? Do you think Sano lives up to the deal? Is there more production? How many games will he play over the next 3 years? And at what position?

Derek Wetmore and Ramie Makhlouf discuss the contract and the risks involved, as well as the reward for the team and for Sano. Also, this Astros thing, man.

Special episode: Patrick Reusse and Derek Wetmore chatted about Miguel Sano, Jose Berrios and Eddie Rosario - and where all of them stand on the long-term plan, following Sano's contract extension. Plus, thoughts on a new wave of minor league hires, the trend of the future with the Twins, and a baseball lifer gets a job on the big league staff.

After the show, news broke about MLB and Rob Manfred's punishment against the Houston Astros for their electronic sign stealing scheme and we just had to jump back on the microphones to discuss in detail. Would you trade your manager, GM, two years of first- and second-round draft picks and $5 million for a World Series title?

Will this put an end to the funny business in Major League Baseball?
