  • Jackyl's Jesse James DuPree Interview
It should come as no surprise that one of the hardest working frontmen in rock—a Guinness World Record holder for not only the most shows played in one day (21), but the most in 50 days (100)—is as active behind the scenes as he is onstage.
You know Jesse James Dupree as the unhinged, chainsawwielding leader of southern rock staples Jackyl, but over the last decade he’s steadily built a multimedia empire under the more-than-appropriate moniker of Mighty Loud.
After a variety of successful, high-profile ventures in marketing, consulting and television production, Mighty Loud will launch its record division with new releases from Powerman 5000 and Jesse James Dupree and Dixie Inc.
Mighty Loud has been a versatile player in the entertainment industry long before this most recent extension. Their marketing division creates branding opportunities for Crunk!!! energy drink, Zippo lighters, the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, SD, and Jesse James’ America Outlaw Beer, a whole-wheat non-filtered brew.
Mighty Loud also performs consulting duties for no less than three record labels:
•Ironworks (established by Kiefer Sutherland and Jude Cole),
•1720 Entertainment, featuring Rissi Palmer and pop band C-Side, and
•New West, well-known for Dwight Yoakam, Kris Kristofferson, the Live From Austin, TX series and much more.
In addition to managing Jackyl, Dupree is also the executive producer and creator of the smash MTV series Two-a-Days, as well as numerous pay-per-view specials (including Sturgis Exposed and Mardi Gras Exposed).
The conglomerate also has two feature films and a comedy show in development, and is responsible for the Dirt Poor Comedy Tour. Lest you worry about Dupree overextending himself, don’t.
“If I’m not split into a million pieces, I’m not happy,” he concludes. “I always made a connection with the guy I saw on television who was spinning plates with a stick. There’s something that would intrigue me about that. Although I can’t spin a plate on a stick for nothing, I can damn sure do it in a proverbial sense."

  • Melissa Etheridge Interview
Melissa Etheridge is one of rock music’s great female icons. Her critically acclaimed eponymous debut album was certified double platinum. Etheridge’s popularity built around such memorable songs as “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy” for which she won her first Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal. Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride with her fourth album, Yes I Am, featuring the massive hits “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” a searing song of longing that brought her a second Grammy. The six times platinum album spent more than two and a half years on the album chart. Etheridge is also an Oscar winner for Best Original Song in 2007. In 2011 Melissa made her Broadway debut as St. Jimmy in Green Day’s rock opera, American Idiot, where she replaced Billie Joe Armstrong for one week, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Etheridge is scheduled to release MEmphis Rock and Soul, a new album honoring Stax Records, in fall of 2016. She recently completed recording at Royal Studios in Memphis on what will be her first album since 2014’s critically lauded This Is M.E.
On June 20, 2016, Etheridge released a song called “Pulse.” The singer wrote the song in reaction to the mass shootings that took place in Orlando on June 12, 2016. As she told Rolling Stone, “We want to try to make sense. We want to try to heal. We want to bring some meaning, some purpose. We also want to put it down forever in history. That’s how I’m coping.” All proceeds from the sale of “Pulse” will benefit Equality Florida, the states largest LGBT civil rights organization. She chats with Slacker about life and her new release, Memphis Rock And Soul!

  • Comedian Dan Cummins Interview
Dan’s unusual observations and unique autobiographical stand-up have earned him spots on The Tonight Show (both Conan and Leno invited him over to the couch!), a Comedy Central half-hour and one-hour special, stand up appearances on The Late, Late Show, Conan, Comedy Central’s This is Not Happening, and on many other late night and cable programs. He was a cast member for the the last three seasons of the continually re-airing World’s Dumbest on TruTv and has appeared on several other pop up commentary series, including VH1’s I Love the 2000’s.
Dabbling for a time in reality television, Dan also helped produce numerous shows such as Town of the Living Dead for SyFy, Duck Dynasty for A&E, Porter Ridge for Discovery, and several others. Leaving reality to try his hand at scripted television, he also wrote two episodes for season one of the 2016 Family Channel sitcom Raising Expectations, starring Molly Ringwald and Jason Priestly. And in 2015 and 2016 he lived out his teenage self’s dream by hosting over 200 episodes of the hour-long televised variety program, The Playboy Morning Show. Dan’s Playboy duties included MC’ing games with nude Playboy models, interviewing musical guests from G Love to Sir Mix A Lot, actors from Michael Shannon to the cast of Trailer Park Boys, and constantly wondering how he was actually getting paid to do so.
Always remaining focused on standup, his true passion, Dan recently released his fifth comedy album on Warner Brother’s Records, Don’t Wake The Bear. He was also the first comic chosen to be spotlighted by Pandora, where with nearly 200,000 Dan Cummins stations created, is one of their most-listened to comedians. He rotates heavily on Sirius XM and Spotify, hosts the weekly Timesuck podcast, wrote a graphic novel called Daddy Bear: Three Rabbits Meet the Real World available on Amazon, and odds are, is performing somewhere tonight!
