The second trailer for Benny Safdie's film The Smashing Machine has been released, showcasing Dwayne Johnson in a dramatic transformation as real-life MMA legend Mark Kerr. The film also reunites Johnson with Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr's wife, Dawn Staples. The Smashing Machine, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival where Safdie won the Silver Lion for Best Director, and also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, is generating Oscar buzz for its serious tone and character-driven narrative. The A24 film is scheduled for release in theaters on October 3, 2025.
