Join me this week as I welcome back Gretchen Roe from Calvert School. Gretchen is the Community Liaison for Calvert School. She is a veteran homeschool parent of 6 who has been integrally involved in the homeschool scene in Maryland for more than 15 years. She has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio program, “The Diane Rehm Show” and is a regular contributor to Calvert School’s online blog community. She is here to talk to us about some of the new services The Calvert School has to offer for its global community of homeschoolers.

This week I am talking to three homeschooling mothers who are in the fray. Jill Martin from Toginet Radio, Teresa Brett from Parenting for Social Change and Melissa Kuntz who was my guest on Good Friday. Together we are going to explore the ideas behind the word, socialization. Why people think our children need it and aren’t getting it at home. What does it mean to you to be socialized? My guest this week is Mitch Rhodes, founder of Kings Academy Christian School in Tyler, Texas. Mitch believes in keeping the parent in charge of their children’s education and does so by using the University Model in his private school. He has worked with Tim Lambert, the president of the Texas Home School Coalition and is currently employed by the local school district as a mathematics teacher at the district’s Disciplinary Alternative Education Program where he works with students who have failed to follow the district’s policies. As a public school teacher and a champion for home schooling Mitch will most certainly be an interesting guest you won't want to miss.

I am delighted to welcome back Mike Donnelly, staff attorney for the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and director of international relations. This time we will be talking about Dads; how they can play an active part in the home school and influence their families as God has called them to do. Mike will also share his expertise and insights about parents in Western Europe who do not have the freedom we enjoy in the U.S. to choose how to raise their children without Government intervention.

This week I’ll be talking with Lisa Cottrell-Bentley, author of the Wright on Time series of children’s chapter books about an RV-living, homeschooling family who travel America learning while on the road. My guest this week is Carol Topp, CPA. We’re going to talk about homeschooling co-ops and how to share the education of your child with others who may do things differently. Carol is the author of “Homeschool Co-ops: How to Start Them, Run Them and Not Burn Out.” She will give us some ideas on what to teach in a co-op and we will discuss the benefits and disadvantages of group learning. I’m talking to Ann Zeise this week who is a self taught Web Master. Ann will tell us how she decided to homeschool her son and her journey from teacher of one to teacher of the world on her world wide web education site. Her son is now CFO of her company and together they manage the 1,000 plus pages from her home in California. Come and listen as Ann and I share some homeschooling stories and talk about maintaining jobs and an identity while educating our children.

Linda Kane is my guest today. She homeschooled her children and discovered how Neurodevelopmental Treatment could help her son Scott who had Down Syndrome. Join me to hear how Linda changed her son’s life. We will be talking about the many applications of ND and how to determine when this approach is applicable in a child’s development. Linda now works as a certified neurodevelopmentalist and has changed the lives of many children with learning disabilities.

My guests are Pamela, my well heeled stranger, who encouraged me to homeschool all those year ago, and a relatively new homeschooler, Melissa, who decided to stick her neck out and go for it!
