This week I am welcoming several British Home Educators who are going to talk with me about why they decided to home school their children, co-oping in England and whether support groups work for them. Alice Gurr, Lynne Purchase, and Carol Slater will regale us with their stories and together we will share our common experiences of home schooling our children as well as look at some of the differences we encounter across the pond. My guest this week hails from Liverpool, England. He and his wife have been homeschooling their eight children for twenty years. Colin Slater is now the principal of TEACH (The European Academy for Christian Homeschooling) where he is able to promote homeschooling especially in England. Mr. Slater found that the biggest opposition to Christian Education in England is the church and he will talk to me a about the way he and his wife sought God’s call to evangelism through education. I am talking to a family this week that has homeschooling in their blood. Jill Martin and her siblings are joining me to talk about growing up as homeschoolers in Mexico and how their experiences led them to make their own choices about educating their children when the time came. Join us as we talk about the impact homeschooling had on their world view and how they used it to shape their lives and those of their families.

I am delighted to welcome Peter Kowalke to my show this week. Peter is a lifelong homeschooler who created the documentary, “Grown Without Schooling.” He followed and interviewed ten grown homeschoolers during their daily life and work and together they explored and openly discussed the lasting influence home education has had on their lives. My guest this week is Special Effects Coordinator, Steve Wolf, from Austin Texas. As a film producer Steve travels to many interesting places. By homeschooling his children he has been able to share his experiences with his family and avoid being away from them for long periods of time. With July 4th just around the corner my guest, Dr. Marlene McMillan is joining me to talk about the liberty to homeschool and her new book, The Five Pillars of Liberty. She homeschooled her seven children amid personal difficulties that would daunt the most stalwart of us. Larry Kay teaches children and families about pets by creating award-winning children’s educational media. His company, Animal Wow (www.animalwow.com) has won many awards, including the Dove Foundation’s “Four Doves” award for promoting Judeo-Christian family values in its work to help children become safe and successful with pets. In this interview, Larry and I discuss the importance of positive pet experiences in the family, and some ways that parents can help children discover themselves as they discover pets.
