We’re kicking off our two-part Election Series with this episode: a tribute to the late, great United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsgurg — or “The Notorious R.B.G.,” as she’s been nicknamed. It's called Vote Ruthlessly! and was conceived and inspired by CLEO, and written by George, as a tribute to Justice Ginsburg, shortly after her death on September 18, 2020. In memory of Justice Ginsburg, we present Vote Ruthlessly! by George S. Corey; art and inspiration by CLEO; performed by Robin Miles and Stephen DeRosa.
Continuing with our Summer Series, Some Like It Not is a tribute to the forever golden screen legend Marilyn Monroe. Few icons have endured like Marilyn has. To know her is to love her -- and just about every person on the planet knows her!
We're thrilled to bring you George S. Corey's own magnificent Marilyn-themed satire, called Some Like It Not -- a satirical reimagining of Billie Wilder's classic comedy Some Like It Hot. We’re also bringing you two interviews with amazing people: one with Stephanie Stuart, one of the most sought-after Marilyn Monroe tribute artists in the country, and the other with Patrick Burke, Executive Director of the Washington DC Police Foundation. I think you're going to like this one!
The first episode in our Summer Series is World War T. In George S. Corey’s irreverent Covid-themed satire, written just as we were starting to emerge from the darkest days of the pandemic, George imagines a "Zombie Trump-ocalypse" that, thankfully, never was. Also in this episode, host/producer Tavia Gilbert speaks with GRAMMY-winning audio engineer extraordinaire Cathleen Conte — one of the reasons Presidential Conversations-themed projects, including this podcast, sound so good!
In this Father’s Day-themed episode, host/producer Tavia Gilbert speaks with Dian Griesel, a nationally renowned perception analyst and influencer, and best-selling author of The Silver Disobedience Playbook: 365 Inspirations for Living and Loving Agelessly. Tavia also gets to welcome her father, Terry Gilbert, who is currently running for Idaho State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Today’s special Memorial Day episode offers thanks to our American veterans and an exclusive preview of the forthcoming book by George S. Corey, Presidential Conversations for Kids, the young readers version of Presidential Conversations, aimed at kids ages 8 to 12, and featuring art by CLEO. PC4K (as we like to call it) will be published in Fall -- perfectly timed for some lively "back-to-school" reading. The book follows two 10-year-old kids, George and GiGi (love that name), and a time-traveling skateboard. The kids meet U.S. presidents throughout history and learn a lesson in leadership from each. The episode also features a conversation with George, as he shares with Tavia all about PC4K.
This episode is part two of a special two-parter called The Last Temptation of Trump. Like part one, 40 Days and 40 Nights, this tale’s conclusion -- called The Last Supper Club -- contains a fun, savvy sendup of Trump World using a very loosely based biblical narrative. Also a part of this educational, entertaining special episode is producer Tavia Gilbert’s interview with Professor Samuel Goldman, executive director of the Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom at George Washington University, professor of political science at GW, and the author of two books, God’s Country and After Nationalism.
This episode is part one of a special two-parter called The Last Temptation of Trump. George S. Corey’s reimagining of the Passion as a political satire is funny and light, and, as usual, wildly inventive. And you won’t want to miss producer Tavia Gilbert’s interview with the performer behind our podcast and the audiobook of Presidential Conversations, the delightful Stephen DeRosa.
This month’s featured story is called Keeping the Faith. It was conceived by author George S. Corey as a Valentine to the current administration. Robin Miles voices Kamala Harris, and Stephen DeRosa steps into the roles of Presidents Biden and Trump. This story has a very cool musical finale, for which there’s an equally cool music video featuring the artist CLEO's Heart Art Gallery.
THE SOCIAL CONTRACT is a new podcast created by author George S. Corey and the artist CLEO as a companion piece to George’s first book, Presidential Conversations, which was inspired by CLEO and features her original illustrations.
The inaugural episode’s featured fictional story is The Capitol Speaks, which George wrote in the aftermath of January 6th. An attorney who has called DC home for decades, George’s writing is deeply affecting, because the piece is really a heartfelt tribute – to the Capitol building itself.
This story is performed by Broadway star Stephen DeRosa, and the episode also includes conversations with both George and Aileen Fuchs, newly appointed President and Executive Director of The National Building Museum in Washington, DC.
We’re back for Season Four – and so are Georgie and GiGi – for more fun adventures!
And Georgie and GiGi are now second graders! So this season is geared towards kiddos—and, of course, their parents.
And just as they did last season, Georgie and GiGi will come
face to face with accomplished women both past and present – Shirley Chisholm, Fannie Lou Hamer, and our very own CLEO – from whom they’ll learn important lessons in Civil Rights and Voting Rights.
So, buckle your seatbelts, kiddos, because it’s going to be a jam-packed, fun-filled fourth season.
Be sure to follow THE SOCIAL CONTRACT podcast — available wherever you find your favorite podcasts. (We hope this will become one of them!)
