Season 2 Episode 39
Unlike most cases we cover, Nightshift revisited a case located in Australia.
An Australian nurse that secretly spoke Russian, garment stitching not used in Australia at the time, cigarettes in an odd box, and a book of poetry written in Farsi...what could this all mean?
In 1948, the body of a man was seen lying on the beach in Adelaide. While first thought to be someone that had a long night out, police were eventually called to the scene as it was realized he was deceased. Dressed in slacks, a white shirt, jacket, and tie, the gentleman had zero noticeable wounds, nor were there any obvious signs of foul play.
But an autopsy revealed bizarre findings. His spleen was three times the normal size, and his organs were congested with blood. While initially whispers of suicide, quickly poisoning became a theory. But- there was no vomit or blood around his body, and his shoes were gleaming with polish, indicating he had likely not walked to the location where he was found.
We talk rare physical anomalies, double agents, calves belonging to a ballerina, and a tiny rolled up piece of paper in his pocket....wait until you hear what it's from.
His briefcase was located in a train station a year later. OH - and juicy fruit gum?
Join Andrea Up Late and Brian Sanders as they discuss this unidentified man. Or is he? In 2022, genetic testing revealed he had been identified, but was that testing valid? So what do you think? Espionage? Murder? Suicide? And is he who they think he is?
