What if calm isn't about being quiet or still, but about finally coming home to yourself?
In this episode of The Soulful Catalyst, I'm joined by Laura Horsburgh, Yoga Teacher, Soul Coach, and Healer from North East Scotland.
Laura says something early in our conversation that stopped me: "Most people are living from their neck up."
Think about that for a second. How much of your day is spent in your head? Thinking your way through problems. Looking for solutions outside yourself. Trying to figure everything out.
Laura's work brings people back into their bodies. Because that's where the answers live. That's where calm actually is. Not the kind of calm that looks peaceful on the outside while you're anxious on the inside. Real calm. The kind that changes how you experience everything.
Her own journey there wasn't direct. She was in PR and event management. Burnt out, erratic, snappy. High intensity workouts gave her a quick fix but actually kept her in that stressed state. Then friends dragged her to yoga. She walked out of those first classes thinking, "What just happened? Why do I feel so amazing?"
That's when she started following the breadcrumbs. A Reiki book in the library. A poster at the gym. Training she didn't plan on. Helping out at her kids' school. Never intending to teach, just loving the learning. Until she was qualified. And then... she slipped right back into those old patterns. Everywhere at once. Diary packed. Burning out again.
That breaking point led her to coaching. Then to becoming a soul coach herself. Now she teaches people how to find their own answers. Not by giving them solutions, but by bringing them into that place where they can hear their body's wisdom. Where intuition gets louder than fear.
What I love is how Laura talks about being attuned to the seasons. We're recording this in autumn, so she's in full reflection mode. Asking what worked, what didn't, what needs to be shed. She's become that lighthouse for others who wonder, "How is she so calm when I'm still running in circles?"
We explore:
➤ What "living from your neck up" really means, and why your body has been trying to tell you something you're not hearing
➤ Following the breadcrumbs, and how Laura went from burnt out professional to soul coach by staying curious about what lit her up
➤ Why calm changes everything, not just how you feel but how you show up in your work, relationships, and life
➤ Teaching people to find their own answers, instead of becoming dependent on someone else's wisdom
➤ Moving with the seasons, and why rest and reflection make you magnetic to the right people
This episode is for you if you're tired of living in your head and ready to come home to your body's wisdom.
