April 30, 2020Episode 98: What about people who can't wear masks?Jimmy recently wrote a blog post about survivors of abuse who cannot wear a mask because of their past trauma. Many of these survivors are being harshly judged and bullied for not wearing masks in public. They're being called "selfish, lazy, #CovidStupid," etc. In this episode, we talk about reasons why people may not be able to wear a mask, even in places where it is required. We hope this episode will shine a light on the bullying and our hope is that people are more compassionate towards our neighbors who may be struggling. April 16, 2020Episode 96: Abusers Should Be Embarrassed For What They've DoneIt always amazes us that so many churches are afraid to name the sin and name the criminal who committed those offenses against innocent people. Is it fair to name the abuser before the church? What about the rest of us who have to own up to what we've done? All of us are humiliated when we are caught doing something that hurts another person, so why should abusers be exempt from this painful process? Why do churches work so hard to protect the feelings of people who committed criminal offenses against innocent people? We explore this and more in this episode. Several people have expressed to us that they feel guilty, or are made to feel guilty, for posting that they are doing well. In times of crisis especially, people can be short-fused with people who express encouraging news. While we don't fully understand this phenomenon, we are sympathetic to those who are doing well and are fearful of telling others. We hope this episode can be an encouragement to those who are silently struggling.
