For our final episode of this season, we chat to Grammy award winning singer, Catherine Russell.
Catherine is an incredibly talented artist who had a career for a number of years as a backing singer with acts like Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie and many more, appearing on over 200 albums.
In 2006, she released her debut album, Cat, to rave reviews and has since released a further 7 studio albums, two of which were Grammy nominated. Throughout the years, Catherine has also toured extensively all over Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States.
In the episode, we discuss the similarities between acting and singing, what it takes to bring a great performance to the stage and find out how the Spiritual Psychology of Acting helped Catherine to overcome various obstacles, including her initial fear of stepping out into the spotlight.

Emotions are universal – they transcend language and culture, and we all experience them every day. Why is it then they can often make us feel out of control? Why do we get overly angry or sad about things we think are unimportant to us? Why do our emotions sometimes lead us to act in ways we later regret?
For the actor, how can we harness our ability to feel emotion and create truthful characters we can all relate to?
In this episode, we discuss what psychologists and experts have to say about emotions, how they manifest in us and how we can better understand our own experience of them.

To kick off our second season, we welcome award-winning actor Eddie Marsan.
One of the hardest working and most versatile actors in the industry today, Eddie has worked with the likes of Mike Leigh, Martin Scorsese, Guy Ritchie, and Steven Spielberg. Over the course of the last 25 years or so, he has appeared in over 130 films and TV shows as well as nine years spent playing Terry in the Showtime television series ‘Ray Donovan’.
Most recently Eddie has given brilliant performances in last year’s ‘The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe’ and this year in the Amazon Prime show ‘The Power’, based on the best-selling book by Naomi Alderman.
At the beginning of his career, Eddie also trained with John in many of the same principles that make up the Spiritual Psychology of Acting today.
In our chat, Eddie shares what he learnt from his time studying with John, the struggles and triumphs of his career, and what advice he would give his younger self.
Listen all the way to the end to hear about an exciting opportunity where you can study the course for free.
