Suns match Pacers’ 4-year, $133 million offer sheet to Deandre Ayton after Pacers offerThe Phoenix Suns matched the Indiana Pacers’ four-year, $133 million offer sheet for restricted free agent center Deandre Ayton, clearing the way for him to return to the franchise, his agents, Bill Duffy and Nima Namakian, told ESPN on Thursday night.

The Suns had until 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday to match the largest offer sheet in the history of the NBA, but matched it immediately and ended the Pacers’ pursuit of Ayton.

Phoenix showed no inclination to negotiate a sign-and-trade agreement with Indiana prior to Ayton signing the sheet, sources said.

Former Chiefs, Browns OL Mitchell Schwartz announces retirementFormer Chiefs and Browns offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz announced his retirement from football on Thursday, concluding a nine-season career in the NFL.

Schwartz started at tackle for the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs squad during the 2019 season and earned a first-team All-Pro honor in 2018. The 33-year-old last played during the 2020 season.

Cowboys, Dalton Schultz are not expected to reach agreement on contract extensionThe Dallas Cowboys gave tight end Dalton Schultz the franchise tag on March 8. If he plays under it, his salary will be $10.931 million this season.

“There has been no progress in long-term contract discussions between the Cowboys and franchise-tagged TE Dalton Schultz,” notes the Dallas News. “The two sides have not spoken in weeks, source said. Deadlines can spur action, but as of now, no deal is imminent as Friday’s cutoff looms.”

If the Cowboys soon strike a multiyear deal with Schultz, it will be their first Hail Mary completion of the 2022 season. The two sides stand far apart in negotiations. Talks would need to take on new life to culminate in a contract, and market conditions could compel the Cowboys to wait.

The deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign an extension is 3 p.m. July 15. Should no agreement be finalized by then, Schultz will spend the season on a $10.93 million tag and face the potential of being tagged a second time for $13.12 million in 2023.

Lillard agrees to two-year, $120 million extension with Trail BlazersDamian Lillard continues to show loyalty to the Portland Trail Blazers. On Friday, the star guard agreed to a two-year, $120 million extension with the team, according to Marc Spears of ESPN. The extension will keep Lillard in a Trail Blazers uniform through the 2025-26 NBA season, and it includes a player option for the ’26-27 season.

Lillard now becomes one of the highest total earners in NBA history with an estimated $451 million in career earnings, per Shams Charania.

Big 10 adds UCLA, USC. SEC to expand?USC and UCLA announced they would be leaving the PAC-12 for the Big Ten. Seemingly, this was in response to the SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma in 2021. The conference wanted to keep up with the SEC. Meanwhile, the two Los Angeles schools wanted to be in a better position long-term.

Tommy Fury finally to fight Jake PaulOriginally, Paul was scheduled to fight Fury on December 18th, 2021 however, due to an injury, Fury pulled from the fight and was replaced by Tyron Woodley instead.

On 10 June 2022, Paul took to Twitter to announce that he and Amanda Serrano will be co-headlining at Madison Square Garden on August 6th.

On 22 June 2022, Paul and Fury went back and forth on Twitter with Paul calming that Fury was pulling out of the fight once more due to his family members not being able to attend. On 23 June 2022 however, Fury responded to Paul stating “the fight is on. August 6th. Forget a team or any other bullshit. I don’t need anybody to help me lay you flat on that canvas.”[4] That same day, it was announced that the two will be facing each other in a professional bout. That same day it was announced that Serrano will be facing Brenda Carabajal.
