JJ Reddick - Former NBA Player Gets It While the NFL G.O.A.T. Tom Brady, and former NFLers Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Big Ben, Blonde, and Troy Aikman Do Not. The former is making a conscious and deliberate effort to be anti-racist while the latters are not. They care more about their own brands, shows, and selves than doing whatever they have to do to be public white voices and allies to fight social injustice, systemic racism and white privilege. Shame on them. And flowers to those like JJ, Rex Chapman, Kyle Korver and Alex Caruso for having the courage to be anti-racist and white allies. And for using their white privilege to be a voice for those marginalized like the black and brown community. 

Jeremy Burright, inspired by his late father, took the road less traveled in becoming a professional basketball player, and today, you will hear the rest of the story. Jeremy is incredibly polarizing and charismatic. He is smart, thoughtful, empathetic, and loving. But don't mistake any of those things as his weaknesses because they're a major reason along with his tireless work ethic as to why at 31, he is playing the best basketball of his life. And please don't call him "Wonderbread" because you might regret it later. 

Ahman Green joined Hoot in the Sport Deli Podcast. He credits his success in large part to his amazing parents in particular his mother who taught him to set goals which is a skill he has now passed on to his 5 incredible kids (4 girls and 1 boy). We talked about a number of things from how his time in Los Angeles prepared him for high school football after his parents made him move back to Nebraska, his time at Nebraska as a Cornhusker in helping them win 2 National Championships and how much he admired Coach Osborne, his college coach who never cussed according to Green, ever and how incredible it was to play in Lambeau Field. He is now in a leadership position coaching young men and women creating a culture of inclusivity and empathy. He has aspirations to coach in the NFL but like me believes that the white quarterbacks in the NFL should be using their platform more to do more as public white allies. Tyrone Poole, an only child raised by his amazing parents in LaGrange, Georgia, discusses his journey from being too small and too inexperienced to becoming a two-time Super Bowl champion. He talks about the mistake he made in high school as a result of ignorance and arrogance and how that experience prepared him for his college football experience, namely when his head coach decided to move him from running back to defensive back because he saw something in him that he didn't see in himself. And today, you will hear the rest of the story.  We delve into his time at Fort Valley State University, the #1 Public Historical Black College in the state of Georgia to his time in the NFL as one of the greatest walk-ons in college to ever make it to the NFL to social injustice, white privilege, and his life after football.

Dino Radja joined Hoot for an amazing interview from his home in Croatia. Radja, who played for the Boston Celtics, is also a 2x Euro League Champion, Olympian, a Top 50 FIBA Player of all time, and is in the Naismith Basketball Hall-of-Fame. When he got the call from the Celtics and Springfield, he thought both we're a joke. He shares what it was like being raised by his amazing parents to playing with the likes of the late Drazen Petrovic, Toni Kukoc, and Vlade Divac, 4 of the greatest European players of all time.   

He is so grateful for his time in the NBA and believes that the 90's was the best era in NBA history. He enjoyed his conversations with Red Aurbach and absolutely loves the Boston Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots.   He has MJ as the G.O.A.T, the greatest of all time, but you won't believe who he has as his number two. Here's a clue: it's not Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Lebron, or Kobe. And it rhymes with Barry.  

He's extremely proud of his three children, has played the guitar in front of nearly 90,000 people, loves giving his dog hugs, and is very sad about what is going on in Ukraine.

A phenomenal leader, father, husband and son, Drew Henson, former two-sport professional athlete joined Hoot for this amazing interview. But before that, he shared time at the quarterback position at the University of Michigan with the G.O.A.T., the greatest-of-all-time, Tom Brady. But, as you will hear during the conversation, Drew thinks my criticism of Tom is fair along with Eli, Peyton, and Blonde, when I proposed that as white influencers and ambassadors of the most popular sport in the United States, they haven't done enough to use their platform which could "exponentially" do so much for people of color. 

He credits his parents for helping him see the world the way he does as well as a major reason why he was able to accomplish the historic feat along with others like Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson of playing Major League Baseball (for the New York Yankees) and professional football (for the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL).
