    In  a conversation with Jethro Eustice and Siya Nolutshungu, both of whom represent the green and gold of South Africa, we look at what has been  unfolding in the hockey world.
    There are a number of exciting prospects that the squad and coaching team are involved with including  the Olympic Games, however, that also comes with a number of challenges, one being financial support.

  • Wayne Taylor - The culture of rugby

    Wayne Taylor has a unique amount of experience when it comes to strength and conditioning training.

    Wayne  first got involved in the different aspects of rugby by doing his fair  share for the New Zealand army and then steadily progressed to be  involved in a number of professional rugby teams such as Japan, Lions, Sunwolves and Tasman Mako.

    We have a close look at the  significance of the haka, South Africa school boy rugby versus New Zealand school boy rugby as well as how important it is to maximise training times which has led to the success of so many New Zealand rugby teams.

  • Brad Wheal - Finding the edge

    Brad Wheal has progressed tremendously well in his cricket career. At the age of 18, Brad caught the attention of Hampshire County Cricket Club and was thrown into the deep end on many occasion.

    Brad has taken much advice from the experienced players around him and has gone on to represent the Scottish national side. He has also been integral in many fixtures to turn a match on its head to swing things in favour of the team he represents (A.K.A - Mr Reliable).

    At 24 years of age, Brad has a First-Class bowling economy of 3.68 and 5.24 in List A cricket.

  • Roelof van der Merwe - A pivotal career

    One of the most determined and ambitious cricketers comes in the form of Roelof van der Merwe. Roelof has always had a strong desire to be successful on the cricket field and has a passion that is much needed in a teams set up. 

    After representing South Africa, Roelof made the Netherlands his home and contributed successfully in the teams efforts to qualify for the T20 World Cup as well as pursue a spot in the 50 over World Cup. 

    In his career, Roelof has gone on to represent Somerset (his current club) and experienced much success with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dehli Daredevils, Brisbane Heat and St Lucia Zouks. 

    In this talk, Roelof gives very unassuming and honest answers as we look at his time in the national set up and how he is looking forward to the upcoming season with Somerset County Cricket Club.

  • A football perspective with Matthew Booth

    Matthew Booth has made an impression in the football world in many ways. After kicking off his football career in Cape Town, Matthew went on to represent Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits in South Africa. Matthew played in Europe and drew interest from a number of clubs and whilst in Russia, he represented Rostov and Krylia Sovetov in which he played more than 100 matches for Krylia. Matthew also played for South Africa on 37 occasions and shared his thoughts on a appreciative but agonising 2010 World Cup.    

    Matthew added that, " It shows what a beautiful game, this [football] is. You can be thin, fat, it doesn't matter what colour you are, or what language you speak,...if you have a footballing brain and you train hard and have the right technique, really anyone is able to play."

  • Lwazi Mvovo - Pure passion for rugby

    Lwazi Mvovo is a true ambassador for the game of rugby. Lwazi spent the  majority of his career at The Sharks and went on to represent the  Springboks on 21 occasions (including SA 'A' and tours).   

    In his career, Lwazi was always as consistent as one could find in any  team setup and was always hard at work on his game. He represented The  Sharks in 200 fixtures and has become an admired figure in the  community.   

    In this interview, we spoke about his retirement, the current Sharks  squad and their performances as well as a famous sports personality he  would like to meet in person. We also touched on his outstanding ability in defense and attack.

  • Pedrie Wannenburg - A career focus

    Pedrie Wannenburg spent the majority of his rugby career with the Blue  Bulls. In that time, he did his club and country proud and played an  integral part in the Blue Bulls dominance of rugby in South Africa.


    We  looked at Pedrie's achievements, the tough time he had with the  Springboks around selection for the Rugby world Cup, as well as his time  in Europe. We had a close look at who the loose forward's toughest opponent was and reflect on his Currie Cup final he enjoyed the most.

  • Mark Webber - In full throttle

    In what is a first for The Sports Editor, we had the privilege of chatting to former Formula One racing driver, Mark Webber. The Australian has won 9 Grand Prix races and had 42 podium finishes in his career. Mark retired from Formula One in 2013 but still did some racing in the form of the World Endurance Championship with Porsche. 

    Mark gives us an excellent breakdown of what it is like to be a race car driver with all the demands and expectations of Formula One and just how dedicated you have to be to the sport as a professional.  Mark also gives us his thoughts on Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, his toughest racing track and how technology has had an influence on the sport. Mark had his fair share of scary moments and added: " Doing gymnastics with a F1 car at high speed is never a good thing..."

    Formula One is a unique sport as one gets pushed to the highest level in so many different aspects. The Formula One season is set to start on 21 March.

  • Xola Ntshinga - The Dynamics of Sport

    Xola Ntshinga is a well-spoken sports commentator who has a focus on rugby that comes through strongly in his shows and presentations. Xola has been involved in the sports industry for almost two decades and has brought many incredible stories to our TV screens.


    We spoke about life in the studio, what a journey it has been for Xola and what South Africa needs to do to bring sport back to its feel good factor.

    In what has been an interesting number of months for The Sharks, we caught up with the coach of the team, Sean Everitt.

    We had a look at the Currie Cup, how Sean managed the squad with many different aspects putting pressure on the team as well as some of the anticipated competitions the team will be participating in and how the franchise has found financial support in these tough times. 

    The Sharks are determined to do well and this could be an entertaining number of seasons coming up for The Sharks.
