The San Diego Padres were extremely active at the MLB trade deadline, hoping to ramp up for a title run. While the team is still loaded, they’ll go the rest of the way this year, and a chunk of next season, without the power-hitting Fernando Tatis Jr. who was suspended after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs while on his rehab stint from an injury. Coming off of the first full weekend of the 2022 NFL preseason, there are a number of storylines, but the game of extreme interest to this show, the Dallas Cowboys vs the Denver Broncos, had three major takeaways.

Joining the show is Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer as he breaks down the preseason for the defending AFC champions, as well as where they stack up in the AFC North. Are they set to run it back and claim the division again? Sticking with the NFL, Calvin finally gets to dive into the NFL.com’s Top 10 cornerbacks of 2022. A mistake leads to some discrepancies with who holds the top spot, however, leading to an interesting analysis from Calvin.

As teams across the NFL prepare for their first preseason games of 2022, Tom Brady is preparing for a little time away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reports are that the time off was previously approved by head coach Todd Bowles, but Calvin still has an issue with it. Speaking of NFL preseason, games, two more are on the docket tonight, but are they worth watching? In the NBA, Kevin Durant news continues this week as he names his top two preferred locations to be traded to, though a move is seeming more unlikely by the day.

A technical issue means an abrupt start to Hour 2, but things are rolling nonetheless. With the NFL season right around the corner, the guys start their division-by-division preview around the league. In baseball, the postseason is approaching, but the New York Yankees are already showing they’re going to be in trouble. Sticking with the MLB, Calvin wants to start the campaign to #FreeOhtani and make sure Shoehei finds his way off of the Los Angeles Angels. In the NBA, reports come out about what LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers discussed ahead of the season, and the conversation turns toward the sensitivity of Kevin Durant.

Breaking news today in the NFL where star linebacker Roquan Smith is the latest player to request a trade from his current team. Eventually, for athletes, he comes for the careers of athletes well before the general population even ponders retirement. Serena Williams is feeling the effects, taking to social media today to announce her pending retirement.
