The University of Vermont mens' basketball team went out on the road to South Carolina last night and ran into a team that had won six in a row to start their season and made it seven with a 68-50 win over the Catamounts.

Playing their first North Atlantic Conference game of the season, the Castleton Spartans mens' basketball team scored a 90-77 win over New England College at Glenbrook Gym last night. Jordan Nelson had a team high 22 points to lead the Spartans, Edmund Fitzgerald added 14, and the Spartans got a 12-point effort from Julian Santos off the bench to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Boston Bruins got out of Philadelphia with at least one point in a 3-2 overtime shootout loss last night, and while overall it means the Bruins have lost four of their last five, that one point does represent something of a moral victory along with the bump in the standings.

The University of Vermont mens' soccer team got their bid for NCAA playoff glory off on the literal Wright foot last night, with star forward Brian Wright scoring a hat trick in the Catamounts' 4-1 win over Rider University at Virtue Field.

The UVM mens' basketball team held off a strong effort from Marist in Poughkeepsie, New York last night, winning 76-72 on the strength of 62% shooting from the floor in the second half, led by an 18 point effort from Payton Henson, who also had eight rebounds on the night.

The NY Giants did some riverboat gambling on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the roll of the dice paid off in eking out a 21-20 victory in East Rutherford.

Remember that epic Patriots-Seahawks Superbowl from two years ago? The Boston Bruins gave up the first goal of the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets last night, but responded quickly by putting up four unanswered of their own in a 9 minute stretch of the first period and road that wave to a 5-2 win at TD Garden. Most gratifying for coach Claude Julien had to be the goal contributions from his third line of Matt Beleskey, Riley Nash, and rookie Austin Czarnik, which was dubbed the "zero sum line" for its pointless streak through most of the first twelve
