The SportsEthos Sacramento Kings Podcast

Losing is in the Sacramento Kings blood. Losing in embarrassing fashion, with zero effort or cares given? That's now in the blood of this current squad.

Losers of 3 straight (feel like I've said that a lot this year) and 7 of 9, this core is just waiting to get torn a part. Seriously, even Stevie Wonder can see that Buddy Hield needs a new team.

We do our best to review the last week of misery, and how Alvin Gentry himself has been broken by this franchise, in record time!

(None of this is fun. We aren't enjoying this. But if there's one thing Kings fans are good at, it's being resilient. We push on!)

In desperate need of healthy bodies, Emmanuel Mudiay and Ade Murkey have joined the picture in Sacramento.

We share the backgrounds of each player, while also singing the praises of Tyrese Haliburton, the unquestioned leader of this current mixed-bag roster. We close with a two-part (!) "Jill's Water Cooler," for fans of sneakers... and Ray Allen.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! Tune back in Monday for our next episode. Stay safe, and go Kings!

The Kings are 2-1 in the Doug Christie-era, and now play a back-to-back, short handed, against the NBA's best team tonight. That should be... miserable? Fun? We have no idea, but we do know this: these guys have passion, and it's making these weird games more entertaining.

We cover the evolving landscape of the NBA amid this COVID surge, the new roster rules, and throw out some names we'd love to see don the purple and black.

It's a Monday show with no format, just Jon Brockman references and love for Buddy Hield. It's like we've entered the multiverse.

In a change from our normal Friday shows, we decided to keep today's episode short and sweet, and without a guest. It's of no offense to our beloved friends in Kings media- we just simply weren't sure what to say today.

COVID is running rampant inside Golden One, so we touch on that, who will get to step in and play instead (it's Queta time), and we give Doug Christie some more love for his 1st W as an NBA head man (even if it technically goes to Alvin Gentry).

Have a safe weekend y'all, see ya Monday!

It may not be in the fashion or circumstance he had imagined, but Doug Christie is getting his 1st crack as a Head Coach tonight in Sacramento.

Is it Vivek's intrusion or his reputation that gave him this chance? We dissect that, and reflect on the many legendary whiffs in Kings history, from Dame Lillard to Luka Doncic. Hindsight is always 20/20- but wow, how this organization LOVES making the wrong move.

Pick a path Monte McNair. We're begging you.

Life comes at you fast- especially if you're a Kings fan. After winning 3-straight and looking like they may hit their stride, De'Aaron Fox missed two free throws, and the tall boys of Cleveland awaited for a Saturday night beatdown in Ohio.

Now, our (not so) lovable losers are 11-16, and we anxiously await Monte McNair's next move. We talk December 15th (a holy day) and all the rumors that are swirling. And, for the sake of happiness, Jill gives us a Monday-edition of "Jill's Water Cooler," telling the tale of one team's hilarious quest to dunk on a very tall human being.

Sacramento has run and gun their way to 3-straight wins (that's a lot for them), and now begin what should be a telling road trip.

We discuss concern over the Kings lack of defense, Bagley continuing to increase his value, and Jill gives us 2 more names from her extensive list of coaching candidates. Oh, and as usual when you follow a team as inconsistent as this, we cover more trade rumors!

The Kings had, at last, a decent week of basketball! In beating the current 5th seeded Clippers in back-to-back games, Sacramento moved themselves within 1 game of the 10th seed, and just 2 out of 5th (!). Take away two blow-out losses to Memphis and the Lakers, and this team has played some inspired basketball under Alvin Gentry.

We discuss what's going right for this team (what up, Terrence Davis), Marvin Bagley's showcasing, play a round of "Fact or Fiction," and look ahead to a December FILLED with basketball at Golden One Center.

Before this depressing Kings season began, we brought some great guests on the show to preview what lied ahead. Now, just past the quarter mark of the 2021 NBA year, we recruit some new people to help us vent about this weird team.

Joining us for our Friday show are: the legend John Bull, who was a part of our original roundtable discussion, Mirann Tsumura (Kings Herald writer and "dramatic" Kings fan), and Trevor Cancilla (a Kings diehard whose Twitter feed is filled with terrific sports takes).

We banter about the current state of this team, Alvin Gentry, where we think this season is going, and who we'd love to see Monte McNair acquire via trade. Then, as is custom, we end with "Jill's Water Cooler."

At 8-14 and coming off two straight ass-kickings, we've tired ourselves of talking about this putrid team. Instead, we focus (most) our attention on hyping up a Kings team that does care: the STOCKTON Kings.

We divulge into the G-League world, and close by reviewing some of our preseason "sleeper" squads. Unsurprisingly, Jill's team's are killing it; Sam regrets ever thinking the Magic could be good.
