  • THE SPREAD| EP 76| SEX WORK & QUARANTINE
In this episode; we talk to sex workers and get their take on experiences during this quarantine period. How has their work been affected? In what ways are they transitioning to this new ‘normal’ and if adapting to more digital content is the way forward for sex work.
Including some tips and tricks on how to succeed in the online world of creating ethical content and consumers.
Sex in quarantine was moderated by Majic Dyke; Majic is a non binary, Kenyan drag king performer. He currently resides in Washington D.C. A force by any other name, The King of Beards and Titties has never met a binary they couldn’t break, a body they couldn’t caress, and a crowd they couldn’t melt. Every one of his performances defines drag as a conversation between desire, sex, and elation. Majic uses his various social media platforms to uplift and encourage his queer community through his Life Coaching and his drag
Joining them on this panel is Tapiwa who believes in filling our lives with as much as we can and doesn't really have a specific field of interest and expertise and often refers to himself as a generalist. He's currently working with rope to encourage discourse around sex, sensuality, intimacy, desexualisation of naked bodies on the African continent.
And King Noire Master Fetish Trainer, Porn Star, Artist, Co-Owner of Royal Fetish Films who needs no introduction as he has been featured on the spread on several episodes.

  • THE SPREAD | EP 75 | HOW TO GET CANCELLED
In this episode we discuss the desire to critique and attack a person or community on social media platforms and how it has grown in prominence today.
Are there any repercussions for this one sided culture? Can we verify the facts? How do we hold people accountable?
Njeri, Samira and Silas sit and discuss all the different aspects of cancel culture so eloquently and I do believe that this should be a continuous conversation.

Even though sexual violence is predominantly targeted at women, there are a lot of stories that go untold where the victims to this heinous crimes are men. And because of the patterns created by the patriarchy, a lot of men would rather die with this secret causing them a lot of shame which can then lead to a myriad of mental health issues. We are joined today by Onyango Otieno AKA Rix the poet as he discussed his rape and what the culmination of his upbringing has taught him and how he is continuing to help your men around Kenya.

  • THE SPREAD | EP 73 | RELIGION AND THE BEDROOM
Today’s topic is one that will hit home with some very hard truths. I am so grateful for everyone who chose to take part in this panel discussion.
Now despite religion in its current state having been hijacked, there is an emerging movement towards inclusivity. We unpack the taboo of sex and sexual pleasure in the backdrop of conservatism and religion.
    Let’s meet the panellists:
Tiffany Kagure Mugo is the intoxicatingly scary gatekeeper of HOLAAfrica, a Pan African queer womanist digital community dealing with sex and sexuality. She is a Ted speaker. podcast host and bad ass Board Member of FRIDA Fund as well as author of the book Quirky Quick Guide To Having Great Sex.
David Ochara is a co-founder and lead pastor at the Cosmopolitan Affirming Community (CAC)- an LGBTIQ affirming religious fellowship in Kenya. Pastor David has a background in science with present interest in research and the intersections of gender, sexuality, and religion in contemporary African society.
Kora Award winner Silayio is a performing and recording Kenyan artist, who has been working in and out of the country for the last 14 years.
Silayio recently re-introduced herself to the scene with a stint on ‘The Voice Of Holland’ where she finished 7th out of 110 contestants.
Muthoni mantra is: MY MISSION IS TO SUPPORT MY CLIENTS BREAK FREE ROM LIMITING BELIEFS, PATTERNS & BEHAVIORS SO THAT THEY CAN LIVE A LIFE FILLED WITH JOY, FUN, PLEASURE & CONTENTMENT.
And lastly our Moderator for this Panel is the ever so lovely Sunshine:
A Nairobi-based radical writer dedicated to imagining freedom and universal access to systems of care for all. Her insightful dissections of pop-culture and it’s intersection with cultural traditions that inform our daily lives serve as a reminder that unlearning, much like the struggle for freedom, is an ongoing journey.

Our podcast of the week is: Pro Hoe!
Penda, who was my guest in last weeks podcast, started ‘Pro Hoe’ after her mom gave her her first vibrator for Christmas which sparked a conversation on the lack of sexual dialogue in Black communities. She is hyper-focused on the politics of feeling good and the ways women, particularly women of colour can use sex and taboo as positive forces for social change.
You can find her podcast on Apple podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pro-hoe/id1480183027
Or wherever else you listen to your podcasts.
